Many who know Chief Justice of India Surya Kant were surprised by the way parts of his remarks on youth were reported, as he is widely seen as someone who encourages and promotes young people.

It has now emerged that the CJI was misquoted.

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant said that “every youth of India inspires me”. He clarified that remarks from yesterday’s hearing were “misquoted” by a section of the media. He said his criticism was aimed at people using fake degrees to enter professions such as law, media, and social media, calling them “parasites”.

He denied targeting unemployed youth, saying it was “totally baseless” to suggest that, and added that “every youth of India inspires me.”

I’ve been travelling through Bihar’s hinterlands over the past few days, and it seems clear to me that the NDA holds a definite advantage in the state elections. This is largely due to the smooth alliance, the cordial relations among partners, and a year-long joint NDA campaign.

The Lutyens’ media, which insists the contest is neck and neck, needs to better understand Bihar’s electorate. Voters appear cautious about returning to the kind of governance associated with the earlier Lalu Yadav era. And yes, women voters once again stand firmly behind the Nitish–Modi duo.

Also, the JD(U), which was underestimated during the Lok Sabha elections as well, is likely to spring a surprise for many.
