Greiss has been good tonight, but I'm still blown away watching how good the #Isles have become in the defensive zone. It's so enjoyably boring to watch.
@DarrenDreger "Babcock, after being hired by the Oilers, has invoked the medieval right of first night, which requires all young roster players getting married to give up their wives for one night with Mike."
11-12-0 since the Olympic break. 4-9-0 last 13. 1-6-0 last 7.
#Isles fell apart in a big way last 2 weeks, but this was a 2-month collapse.
GM changed. Coach changed. Time for a major roster shakeup to turn this team in a new direction.
The story of this season to me:
5 players gave you high level play constantly: Horvat, Barzal, Schaefer, Pelech and Sorokin.
Supporting cast (a few inconsistent at times): DeAngelo, Ritchie, Lee, Holmstrom and Pageau.
Everyone else, passengers.
The GM traded for 3 players that didn’t change the workload for any of the players carrying this team. Barzal and Horvat still had to carry their own lines. Schaefer still had to play hero ball.
Shit happens, and Darche will learn from it. I hope we start letting the kids play like we did with George and Shabanov at the end, because that’s what this franchise needs to be focused on. Development.
@PaulShaheen@emilymkaplan@NYIslanders They absolutely need more structure. It's been rope-a-dope with insane saves all season. Now it's coming to a head.
The Islanders this past week:
-Lose 8-3 (Monday)
-Lose 4-3 with under 5 minutes left (Tuesday)
-No show at home and lose 4-1 (Friday)
-Lose 4-3, give up 40 shots, 82 shot attempts (Saturday)
-Fire Patrick Roy (Sunday)
Just another week in paradise.
