On his concluding remarks, the Director General stated:
"I extend deep gratitude to everyone who contributed to this effort — including the experts who drafted the plan, and the national and international institutions that provided support. There is a clear need to address the gaps identified by the during the discussions including strong alignment with NTP, improved financing projections to implement the various aspects of the NDC3:0, which I am confident will significantly contribute to our country’s vision for climate resilience."
In his concluding remarks today, Sulayman Sheikh Omar, Director General of the @MoF_Somalia , stated:
"Achieving national resilience is the only path to addressing the severe impacts and threats posed by climate change, and today we all bear witness to Somalia’s firm commitment to tackling these challenges. What lies ahead is the implementation and realization of this national effort, which will serve as a foundation for a Somalia that finds sustainable solutions — in livelihood, knowledge, economy, and development. Thank you."
The Validation Workshop for Somalia's NDC 3.0 with Federal Government Institutions has successfully concluded in Mogadishu today, marking a key step in the broader validation process!
This crucial national consultation achieved its objective of validating key outputs and components of Somalia's climate action plan with federal stakeholders. We extend sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to this vital collective effort. This successful step brings Somalia's NDC 3.0 closer to its submission to the UNFCCC in June, paving the way for enhanced climate resilience through further validation with other stakeholders.
A key message from the NDC 3.0 Validation Workshop today: Somalia's national GHG emissions more than tripled between 2016 and 2024, highlighting the urgent need for transformative action. In response, Somalia's NDC 3.0 targets a significant 34% GHG emissions reduction by 2035.
This ambitious goal requires integrated actions and substantial investment for a climate-resilient Somalia.
Happening now at the NDC 3.0 Validation Workshop: Lively engagement as groups interact with Dr. Abdullahi Khalif, National NDC Country Facilitator! Participants are posing sharp questions and offering valuable feedback on the presentations and key documents.
