1) Your question is a based on a largely inaccurate assertion, in that the vast majority of the mainstream media continue to ignore the subject. That's the (sad) reality. But setting that aside

2) I suspect that you're usually not asked because the most prominent skeptics and debunkers..

a) aren't seen as acting in good faith
b) refuse to accept 'evidence' which most people would find persuasive if they took the time to investigate it - for example, the huge number of high-achieving and credible people testifying in The Age of Disclosure; and
c) have proven that they actually know very little about the subject, by the quality of what they post online.

Why make those statements? In a nutshell, because you and other skeptics and debunkers keep ignoring inconvenient evidence.
So here it is yet again, in 3 papers linked below; but first:

* THE CURRENT U.S. UAP REPORTING REQUIREMENTS.
If the U.S. Military takes UAPs this seriously, why don't skeptics and debunkers? Note the wording of the current UAP reporting requirements from the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the box below.
The 3 briefing papers follow:

1) TOP SECRET CLASSIFICATION. A lack of the tangible evidence which huge numbers of the American public wish to see - or to have officially acknowledged - is because the UFO/UAP/NHI subject is unique. 2) THE PROVEN REALITY OF ROSWELL [pages 2-7 in the next link]. Perhaps the most accessible and powerfully persuasive ‘evidence’ for the reality of Roswell are the video testimonies and sworn Affidavits from the senior military personnel (and many others) who were actually there when it happened, but who were ordered to stay silent at the time: see in particular the foot of page 3/top of page 4 of this paper. And importantly, the very powerful additional witness testimony just added to this paper, see page 24, from Frankie Rowe, née Dwyer, daughter of the Roswell Fire Chief Dan Dwyer, about
a) the 'aliens' her father witnessed at the Roswell crash site;
b) the 'memory metal' type material which she handled at the Roswell Fire Station, that was common to many of the testimonies of Roswell witnesses; and
c) the absolutely brutal intimidation of her and her parents, as an example of the intimidation in many of the Roswell witness accounts.. ....in addition to the overwhelming body of evidence on pages 2 - 7: https://t.co/d7FAYoanPK

3) DENIAL AND MISINFORMATION. More than 'merely' hiding the evidence, the U.S. Government pretends it doesn't exist: a policy of denial & misinformation since the 1950s.
