A proposal by Indian Oil Corporation(IOC) for an Oil distribution pipeline connecting Nagapattinam, Trincomalee & Colombo was discussed yesterday. I requested them to look at a two way oil & gas pipeline taking in to consideration the Governments development plan for Trinco tank farm & energy hub, future developments of refineries, oil & gas exploration, pipeline connections to domestic LPG terminals that will target regional oil and gas export markets while enabling energy requirements of both countries.

Project feasibility, technical requirements will be assessed before finalization of the project scope for approval. Officials of Indian High Commision, Ministry of Power & Energy, CPC, CPSTL, PDASL, IOC & LIOC participated.

Mr Sujoy Choudhury, Chairman LIOC met H.E. Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of SL & discussed significant issues on mutual cooperation. Handed over CSR contribution of 200 Mn LKR towards President's Fund to H.E. who assured all assistance to LIOC for enhancing SL's energy security
