@Oliver_Clingain The Road less traveled by MT Scott
That book changed everything I new about spirituality and psychology.
A gem.
Close to that is The Alchemist that I reread every year.
A couple of weeks ago, I hiked the 3rd highest peak of Mt Kenya - Point Lenana.
Although the ending was a bit messy as we got lost on the mountain on our way back (link to the whole story in comment section) one thing I learned the hardest way that David Goggins couldn't hammer in me until I experienced it first hand was:
Our bodies are capable of more than we think possible. It's our mind we have to convince.
So, years back, Iโm working the electronics section at a supermarket.
One evening, this guy buys a microwave and asks my supervisor if we do home delivery. Now, we definitely didn't have a delivery van. But my supervisor looks at him, smiles, and says, "Oh, absolutely."
Next thing I know, I am the delivery department.
I lugged this heavy box all the way up to the guy's apartment. Right before I left, the customer hands me a tip. Man, I still remember the exact texture of that cash because I literally had zero money in my pockets - not even a single bob. I was entirely broke, so that gesture completely saved the day.
Cut to last week.
Iโm at a supermarket again, but this time Iโm the customer picking out a radio system. This dude working the counter was incredible. He checked the wires, boxed it up like it was fragile glass, walked me out to the street, and didn't leave until he personally flagged down a ride for me. Just total VIP treatment from a retail worker.
Standing there on the pavement, it hit me. I was looking at myself from five years ago.
I reached into my phone and sent him a tip that was nearly triple what I got for that microwave back in the day.ย
It was wild.ย
You hear people talk about life coming full circle, but experiencing it makes you freeze up a bit.
I just rode home feeling incredibly grateful that I was finally on the other side of that equation.

I feel my life is seriously guided by a Naval quote I saw a couple of years ago.
"The 3 most important decisions you make in life: who you marry, what you do for career, and where you choose to settle down."
I don't know how many iterations it takes me to get it right in all of them, but I damn well know I am never settling for less.
โช๏ธ I will live in multiple places before I settle down
โช๏ธ I will go to as many dates as humanly possible
โช๏ธ And I am already making a decent living as a writer, and that's a great start.
It's funny how these 3 meta-decision seem to affect every other decision you make in life.
You've got to get 'em right :-)

Propanga I am pushing
- Avoid news & politics
- College is worth it for experience
- Don't live in one city for more than 6 months
- Privacy is power
- Read ateast 30 minutes everyday
- Things are never as bad as they seem
- Figure out money first before happiness
- Don't plan past 12 month in future
- Find what you love and let it kill you
- Fear is a signal to actually do the thing
- Take no advice from people who aren't where you want to be in life.
- Spend years making the 3 most important decisions in life (who you marry, where you live, and what you do for career)
Life is short: love hard, get fit, get rich, and become a free human being.
