I have seen the cutscene in question. No spoilers in this thread.
I am utterly livid.
The devs who worked so hard on Destiny for years, who knew where things were going and the potential that was ahead.
They all deserved so much better.
I am… exhausted. In the best of ways.
Thank you again for showing up for launch. Excited to see more join through the week.
Signing off for the day. Time to play.
See you out there.
Oh man, if another expansion released in the current state Destiny 2 is in right now with this latest update, it wouldn't be an S-Tier drop, it would be GOD Tier. Such a shame @Sony@PlayStation thought Marathon was the better investment when its clear the majority would rather play Destiny, even if its just more Destiny 2...
This is what happens when you unleash the devs who actually care about the game & give the players what they want.
Congratulations to @Bungie for this launch & thank you for the last decade. #destiny2
It’s just so fucking heartbreaking, man.
D2 was a Platinum best seller on Steam for FIVE YEARS IN A ROW.
And it has one bad sales year? A year where it was STILL a Steam top seller, but at Silver! And now it’s over? With no return in sight?
MAN, FUCK OFF
Look, Bungie obviously turned a lot of folks off with EoF, and that’s on them.
But I’m having such a hard today not being annoyed at all the D2 fans who just wouldn’t shut up about Renegades being “Star Wars Slop” when it was such a great expansion.
@aiiygatorz 2nd encounter is one of the better encounters in the game, I’ll give you that. First and third aren’t anything super crazy compared to others imo.
Destiny 2 was not a failure.
Destiny is—was—by all measures, one of the most resounding successes in its field, and its end is a consequence of its management, not the game itself, nor the team and community that propped it up time and time again, or the vision that fueled it.
Destiny was a pioneer of the live-service formula. It was one of the earliest games of the 2010s to try to deliver constant goods, whether they took the form of missions, new loot rewards, or skins, to a console audience.

As a Destiny player, I’m so upset at how misunderstood things have become.
People are angry, yes!! We were told Destiny & Marathon were going to ‘co exist’ , Destiny would ‘live on’ … we waited patiently for months & months in pure silence, while Marathon received spotlight & updates.. to finally be told ‘Destiny is officially getting its Final Update June 9th.’ ..
This end having no closure to our Guardian, to the characters & new stories with Edge of Fate/Renegades.. it feels like we were done wrong & betrayed. We played Marathon while sitting in silence, we’ve supported, waiting for Destiny news.. for this to be the end? How can you do this to an incredible loyal/passionate player base for YEARS.
I am extremely bittersweet about all of this situation. I understand Marathon is not to blame for Destiny’s end. It’s just so sad Destiny quite literally was left abandoned, for a game that is MOSTLY DESTINY PLAYER-BASE ANYWAY. Marathon isn’t a bad game, but to put Destiny down for it? Wow… what an incredible mistake that I hope Sony realizes at some point.
I’m just.. upset. I still just cannot accept this. 😔
