On #WorldArabicLanguageDay, I’m grateful to my parents who forced me to speak Arabic in a diaspora household when racism at my school made me ashamed of my heritage and made me hate Arabic. Many years later, I grew to love Arabic and can’t imagine my world without it.
Today the trial of 26 year old film editor & activist Sanaa Seif starts in #Egypt. She's being charged for her social media posts on the spread of Covid-19 in prisons & for insulting a police official. The way she was arrested/abducted is just shocking (see video).
