ππ₯ ENGAGING PARENTS AT KEORE PRIMARY β BECAUSE PREVENTION STARTS AT HOME! π°πͺ
Our Kisii County team was at Keore Primary School, and we came with a mission: to equip parents with the tools they need to protect their children from drugs and alcohol! πͺπ«
We rolled out the National Guidelines on Alcohol and Substance Use Prevention and Management in Basic Education Institutions β a critical framework for creating safe, drug-free schools. πβ
We also dug deep into:
π¨ How parents can spot early warning signs of drug use
π£οΈ Building trust and open communication with children
π€ Strengthening the parent-school partnership for prevention
Parents left the session informed, empowered, and ready to lead the charge at home. Because when parents are equipped, children are protected. π§‘
To every parent who showed up: THANK YOU. Your presence is a powerful statement that you are committed to raising a generation that chooses purpose over drugs. π
π§ STRESS. PEER PRESSURE. ISOLATION. CHOOSE HEALTHY COPING.
Stress, peer pressure and social isolation can increase vulnerability to alcohol and drug abuse.
This month, we encourage young people to adopt healthy coping mechanisms:
β½ Sports
π¨ Creative arts
π€ Mentorship
π£οΈ Counselling
Choose health. Choose resilience. #MentalHealth
πΌ HEALTHY WORKPLACE. HEALTHY MIND. HEALTHY BUSINESS.
A supportive workplace promotes both productivity and mental wellness.
Employers: Create drug-free, mentally healthy environments where staff feel:
β Valued
β Heard
β Supported
More good days begin with healthy workplaces.
Mental wellness + drug prevention = two sides of the same coin.
Communities that invest in:
β Awareness
β Mentorship
β Positive recreation
Help young people build resilience and avoid risky behaviours.
Strong communities raise strong youth.

𧡠We can't delete the internet. But we can delete the silence around it.
Parents:
π± Monitor online exposure
β οΈ Harmful content promotes substance use
π§ Guide their digital consumption
Ask questions. Watch with them. Stay curious.
@FarahMaalimM You claim to be a ranking member of the @NAssemblyKE but your utterances say otherwise. @HonWetangula we demand an apology by the MP for demeaning the nursing profession, interfering with administrative duties of a public officer n the disparaging remarks. @nnakenya@MOH_Kenya
𧡠We're not saying you need a perfect family. We're saying you need present ones.
Parents:
π² Game nights
π³ Outings
π½οΈ Shared meals
Why?
Strong family bonds = less likelihood of substance use.
Connection is prevention.
Ban weekday homework. Kids wake up at 5am, spend the whole day in school, get home at 5pm, then are loaded with more assignments. That is not education but burnout.
Let homework be for weekends only, or parents want schools to justify school fees?
π’ TO EVERY SECONDARY/HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT: BREATHE. YOU HAVE MORE TIME.
We heard you. Form exams. Sports. Homework. Life.
So we are extending the NACADA Secondary/High Schools Essay writing Competition deadline to:
ποΈ 29th May 2026
Yes. You now have extra days to write your way to victory.

Quite dishonourable remarks by the Hon @FarahMaalimM on the suitability of nurses to lead at @MOH_Kenya or @garissahealth.Stop politicising administrative issues. @NAssemblyKE FYI doctors have had their study leave requests turned down or deferred even with a doctor at the helm!
Nursing is not just a profession β it is leadership, expertise, and the backbone of our health system.
We firmly reject any narrative that undermines the role of nurses in leadership and health system governance. Such remarks not only misrepresent the profession but also erode the dignity of those who serve at the frontline and beyond.
We call for respect, accountability, and informed discourse in matters affecting healthcare professionals.
The voice of nursing must be heard. The dignity of nurses must be upheld.

When Rigathi was Deputy President, he had 90% of his staff from Wamunyoro. Those who want us to be Kikuyus now, why didnβt it matter then? Why didnβt you ask Rigathi to create opportunities for βKikuyusβ from Kisumu because we are all Kikuyus? Why only those from Wamunyoro?
ALCOHOL has destroyed families.
β don't entertain it.
Sit down with children from families where parents are alcoholic and the family is broken, you will not romanticize alcohol again.
Don't sanitize alcohol. It is a demon.
Don't drink alcohol.
ALCOHOL IS BAD
Is the President being sabotaged?
1. Cops acting with impunity?
2. CS's not delivering?
3. Advisers giving him poisoned info?
4. Mp's on self -enriching deals?
5. Committees dormant?
6. Eacc....asleep?
7. Ipoa....toothless?
8. Development projects..abandoned?
What is going on?
