Appreciate the monument alignment work — an interesting pattern worth examining. Geologically, paleomagnetic records show that true polar wander (TPW) has been gradual throughout the Phanerozoic, typically on the order of ~0.1–1° per million years. Magnetic grain orientations in rocks provide robust, independent constraints on ancient pole positions over deep time. A rapid, large-magnitude pole shift would leave unmistakable signatures in well-established paleo-geographic reconstructions — including sediment dispersal patterns across major basins and paleowind directions preserved in eolian deposits. These records show no such disruption.

Salt dissolution rates, cavern geometries, and stresses are known values, routinely modeled with sonar surveys. Unlike nuclear plants, cavern lifespans aren't amorphous. Natural salt domes are millions of years old; these man-made caverns are <100 years old from legacy mining. Most stay fine within proven operational thresholds—dropping below them causes damage.
