@GarbochiiGames did a great job at both giving the player the freedom and agency to move beyond the relationship while still using choices in such a way that makes you feel the oppressive weight of the relationship. Great job!
This is a wonderful twine game that does a really great job at exploring the same dynamics of an abusive relationship. It has a lot more breadth than ours: dealing with coworkers, control, and the broader context of abusive. Check it out!
Content warnings, obviously.
One thing I always regret about our game is not situating the player enough in the context of this relationship and maybe that making it feel too "easy" for some players to just dump him straight away.
@LiamGiiV and @octorockmusic made a very silly music video for the song Gingi they produced for the game with messages of "love" from our dear, ex-boyfriend Josh.

Was thinking a lot about the narrative design articles I've been reading recently about choices. Many of them said explicitly what I discovered intuitively while designing the Breakup Game.

For a while there every game was set during the Second World War. I wonder about all of the historical settings games have never used once. Post your favourite here. What about a game set in Sarajevo in the weeks before the Great War? If it exists prove me wrong.
Going forward, the new partnership @ScenarioWorld (comprised of me, @brwarner92, and @LiamGiiV for me) will be managing the breakup game, and will be our name going forward of all future story-rich projects.
We're proud to announce that Scenario World is going to be managing the #indie#romance game from @brwarner92, It's You: a Breakup Story. Buy it now on Steam:
