It is surely time for @UNPeacekeeping to immediately stop Bangladesh from providing peacekeepers to the United Nations until it undertakes an independent investigation of the violence used by the police, military and other para-military groups which has allegedly resulted in nearly 200 deaths of students and other protestors. If they cannot keep peace in Bangladesh, and instead cause killing and maiming, the country's security forces should not be trusted in other countries.

It looks like years of inaction by the #InternationalCommunity in #Bangladesh has created an overwhelming sense of impunity although it seems finally that the #HasinaRegime has overestimated its position. There are always red lines. This, finally, is one. The United Nations criticises Bangladesh authorities for use by army of UN equipment as part of its control of student protests. UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said on Monday at press briefing that: "Our colleagues on the ground in Bangladesh have seen reports, disturbing reports, of UN marked vehicles that may have been used during the developments that we have seen in Bangladesh over last few days. It is Important for us to stress that UN troops and police contributing countries are to use UN insignia and equipment marked with this insigne only when they are performing mandated tasks as part of a UN peacekeeping or UN political mission and within context of any UN mission. Since the internet connection was partially restored in Bangladesh, graphic images and videos have flooded the web. In one such video, members of the Bangladesh police are seen shooting at an injured person from point-blank range (at south of Dhaka, Shanir Akhra area). The injured individual was being carried away by another protestor, but the police shot both.

Fearing safety, the person who was assisting ran away with his life, leaving the injured at the mercy of almighty. They were unarmed.

Sheikh Hasina and her associates should be held responsible for this carnage.
