A major milestone for health security in Sierra Leone!
On July 30, the U.S. Government, together with Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Health launched the Advanced Level of the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP).
This two-year, in-country program, created through the U.S. Centers for Disease Control includes a MPhil in Epidemiology and Disease Control degree and will equip Sierra Leonean health professionals with advanced skills to detect, investigate, and control disease outbreaks. Congratulations to the first cohort of advanced “disease detectives”!

🦠 The Power of Field Epidemiology in Africa 🌍
Field Epidemiology is the frontline defense against disease outbreaks in Africa. From tracking deadly viruses to responding to public health emergencies, field epidemiologists play a critical role in safeguarding communities.
Through Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs), AFENET in collaboration with Ministries of Health and partners is building a skilled workforce capable of detecting, investigating, and controlling diseases before they escalate. Their work ensures timely response, data-driven decision-making, and stronger health systems across the continent.
By strengthening field epidemiology, we empower health systems to detect, respond to, and prevent outbreaks—protecting communities across Africa and beyond.

"Prostitution is now hookup, Charm is now Grace, Bad character is now mood swings, Fake life is now packaging, A broke young man is poor but a broke young woman is a strong woman, Happiness now depends on drugs, Happiness now depends on drugs, Drunkard now see addiction as excuse to depression. Molly is now the real joy giver, Smokers now see it as a means of taking away their pains, Cultism is now the norms definition of real men, Money now paddles the canoe of love.
Meanwhile "I'm the table is now the slogan of a lady in relationship. Our old time friends are now strangers due to change in financial status, Brothers now selecting brothers according to their standards, WHAT A FOWARDED GENERATION"
Morals thrown to the wind.
This post is not about this grinding machine 🤝
"Sixty-three years after independence we are celebrating our independence in dependence. Our development does not meet the needs of the current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. We keep doing the same things over and over again and getting the same results. It's high time we reflect on these issues." @andrewkeili #SierraLeone #saloneX

"Right now, I am prepared to be a suicide bomber."
"With Allah's help, I will fight for ISIS, the Islamic State."
"I am ready to stab a Jew and drive a car over them."
"We have to constantly stab them, drive over them, and shoot them."
"Stabbing and running over Jews brings dignity to the Palestinians."
Palestinian children are taught to hate.
If you want to free the Palestinians, you must free their children's minds from hate.
The eyes of more than 2.5 billion people of the Commonwealth – more than 60% of whom are young people under the age of 30 - will be upon Sierra Leone. Watching, in solidarity and in hope.
Saddened by the violent death of a police officer in Makeni on Saturday night, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim.
Violence can never be justified.

Politicians are very cunning! When they want power, they tell us that we are from the NORTH-WEST or the SOUTH-EAST. But when they squander our resources, they do not know tribe or region. We can’t be fooled anymore. We’d assess them based on their PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE PROMISES.
Today was my 1st day at work since winning "Best Minister Award" at WGS. My team surprised me with cake. I'll tell you what, I've the Best Team in the World! That includes all teachers and students like Aminata who truly inspire me. I went to every opened office to say thank you.
We are all shocked by the images and reports coming from #Türkiye and #Syria. Over 4,000 people have been killed and over 18,700 are injured, but these numbers will continue to rise as the situation evolves. My full update on how @WHO is supporting: https://t.co/WgpXz956Wn
