Excited to share the lab's first preprint ! We previously observed CD226+ macrophages in brown fat that resemble CCR2- and IRF4-dependent peritoneal small Macs, but we didn't know anything about them...

Happy to share our recent review on CD226+ mononuclear phagocytes, published in Trends Open! We share our opinion on the peculiar phenotype of these cells, that share common features with both dendritic cells and macrophages. @LP2M_Lab @CNRS_DR20 https://t.co/iEMVeqRgqP

This novel macrophage population in salivary glands is regulated by ILC-2 derived GM-CSF and arises mostly from MDP-derived monocytes. Importantly, they also express CD226+ and have a lot in common with the population we describe in adipose tissue... More to come !

Happy to see this paper out @NatImmunol !

CSF1R signalling sustains glucose uptake in Ly6Chigh monocytes to fuel the hexosamine biosynthetic pathway (HBP), which in turn allows optimal CSF1R expression. Impairing glucose flux towards HBP through GFPT1 invalidation leads to increased Ly6Chigh/Ly6Clow ratio.

CSF1R regulates monocyte subset differentiation and intracellular metabolism. https://t.co/sq0SU86W1C
Our new preprint is now online ! Here, we explore links between CSF1R signalling, intracellular metabolism and monocyte differentiation.@LP2M_Lab @Cnrs20 @Univ_CotedAzur @Inserm

[Ivanov lab @IvanovLab]

We report that surface CSF1R expression relies on continuous translation and export to the membrane. CSF1R recycling rate accelerates as monocytes differentiate from the Ly6Chigh to the Ly6Clow subset, and CSF1R blockade prevents Ly6Chigh commitment towards this trajectory.

We report that this subset is conserved across several tissues and especially fat, in which they regulate lipid metabolism. Importantly, these cells have a rapid turnover from monocytes, and in particular MDP-derived monocytes that are biased to differentiate into CD226+ Macs !
