In just a few weeks, I’ll be heading to Advocacy Con in Indianapolis, and I couldn’t be more excited. This event brings together podcasters, victim advocates, nonprofits, and families like mine who have experienced unimaginable loss and turned their pain into action.
For most of my life, I didn’t talk about my mother’s death. I knew my experience wasn’t common, and I didn’t want people treating me differently. But stepping into this space, surrounded by people who truly understand what it means to fight for justice, to challenge a system that failed their loved ones, and to refuse to be silenced, feels like finding my place.
This will be a powerful opportunity to connect, learn, and share my mother’s story in a room full of people who know exactly why this fight matters. I’m looking forward to meeting so many incredible voices in advocacy, true crime, and justice reform.
If you’ll be there, I’d love to connect!

My Mother’s Case Has Been Reopened – After 35 Years, Indiana State Police Are Investigating
For 35 years, my family has struggled with unanswered questions. For 35 years, we have been told that my mother’s death was a suicide—despite clear evidence of domestic violence and investigative failures.
Now, for the first time since 1990, Indiana State Police are officially investigating my mother’s death.
My mother, Dawn Caraveo, was only 30 years old when she died. Her death was ruled a suicide almost immediately, without a thorough forensic investigation. No gunshot residue testing. No fingerprinting on the weapon. No blood spatter analysis. The injuries documented in her autopsy raised more questions than answers. And the people who should have fought for justice—law enforcement—shut the case without looking deeper.
My sister and I have uncovered inconsistencies, missing evidence, and failures that point to a deeply flawed investigation. Now, Indiana State Police are actively working to review her case, examine the facts, and seek the truth that was ignored for far too long.
This is just the beginning. Reopening the case is the first step toward getting accountability, justice, and closure—not just for my mother, but for every family who has been told to accept an answer that didn’t make sense.
If you or someone you know has lost a loved one under suspicious circumstances and been dismissed by the system, you are not alone. I see you. I hear you. And I will not stop fighting for the truth.

We Are the Children of a Murdered Woman
When the system fails, it’s the families left fighting for truth, accountability, and justice. My mother, Dawn Caraveo, was found dead in 1990, and despite clear evidence of domestic violence, her death was ruled a suicide. Like so many others, my family was forced to navigate a system that dismissed the facts and ignored the voices of those left behind.
We are not just survivors—we are the children of a murdered woman who refuse to be silent. No family should have to fight this hard for the truth.
This story is not just about my mother—it’s about the countless families who have had to take on the justice system themselves, pushing against corruption, misclassification, and investigative failures.
