Disabled folks & allies have spent HUNDREDS of hours at this point fighting for our rights & the rights of all disabled students & colleagues. Why is UC Davis revoking reasonable, feasible accommodations that have proven to work well for two years? @UCDavisDRAC
requested data (% disability accommodations requests denied) from UC Davis multiple times in Fall 2021. Journalist Sunny Yan asked too & UCD said they would release “on or around April 18th.” After my formal public records request they said LATE JUNE (🧵) https://t.co/QdmGNOw1sm
With universities rapidly dropping precautions and the CDC abandoning us, collective organizing in academia is urgently needed.
Our survey data shows an overwhelming majority of respondents have had accommodations denied and calls for safety ignored despite their best efforts.
Recent policy changes have sacrificed the lives of disabled students, faculty, and staff.
To hold institutions accountable, with protection from the threat of retaliation, you can report concerns anonymously here: https://t.co/3lugnMYife
Hi, I am a blind 2nd-year Master’s student studying public health with an interest in health policy and management at UC Berkeley. Who else wants to make healthcare more accessible and equitable? Enjoying #DEHEMRollCall#DEHEM21#disabled#AAPI@DisInHigherEd@APHADisability
We also want to say that people of all levels of higher education are welcome to join #DEHEMRollCall and us for #DEHEM21 including: undergrads, grad students, postdoc, faculty, those that left at any point, independent researchers, medical students, law students, art students...
What's a Roll Call?
It's an opportunity to unite & connect the community.
You are invited to use the #DEHEMRollCall hashtag & introduce yourself & whatever else you feel like sharing (eg) pronouns, work, location, etc. Disclosure of disability is not required!
#DEHEM21
#DEHEMRollCall I'm Elliot, PhD Candidate studying psychology at UCLA, I do theoretical models & computational work in the fields of autism and bipolar (my primary diagnoses) and #ILoveAva@Ava_Nicole23
Thank you so much for the mention, @DisInHigherEd! We have been in the midst of building up to our launch of the next academic year for @UofCalifornia JADE systemwide chapter. We are so excited for #DEHEM21 & thank you @nolan_syreeta for all you do.

Thank you @natetilton82 for this idea. With the past year of being remote, maybe virtual DCC’s could be like a start to getting a physical center. If you are at a campus without a DCC, what events/services/etc would you like to see in a virtual DCC? @DisInHigherEd
