The greatest characteristic you can have is a great attitude. It's your choice every day when you wake up.
You also have to understand and appreciate the value of hard work. Nothing really matters if you don't give great effort.
Jay Wright on what matters:
If you are the best player on your team, go to your coach & tell him/her to coach you harder, be more demanding, hold you accountable. Back that up with your mental toughness, work ethic & desire to get better. Be a positive example to teammates. Show them how to accept coaching.
Extremely excited and honored to announce my commitment to Peru and to continue my basketball and academic career. Thank you to all of my teammates and coaches that have helped me achieve my goals! #GoBobcats#ClawsOut@rjalbury@ian_holleran
βYou cannot Win before you eliminate Losing...those things that cause you to lose:
1) Bad Shots
2) Turnovers, cannot turn it over and win...cannot!
3) Opponents second shot opportunities
4) Fastbreak Layups
5) Uncontested Shots and Layups
6) Foulingβ

HS players:
If you only practice, lift, etc. when you are required to, how are you separating yourself from other players?
Coaches canβt make you do extra work, but typically the ones that do end up being the best.
Be proactive, you control your own work ethic and destiny.
βWhen you teach somebody - regardless of their age - that person realizes that you donβt care about the score. That you care about helping them grow.β
