I play varsity volleyball at Monroe High School in Michigan.
All of us girls do our normal things in the locker room. We get undressed, trusting the friends next to us.
Then we found out — weeks later, from rumors— that a biological male had played against us and been in that locker room.
Nobody told us. Nobody told our parents.
My dad filed a Title IX complaint. We were threatened for speaking up. We kept speaking.
This week I told the U.S. Senate.
No girl should ever have to compete against a boy in a female sport, or question her privacy in a locker room. I'm not going to stop until there's a change.
