The White House and a bipartisan group of Senators have finalized a deal on border security. Included in the deal is the presidential authority to completely shut down border crossings if it reaches a certain level. Something Biden said he would do immediately.
The agreement also calls for speedier deportations of migrants who do not qualify for asylum.Every single thing the Republicans and Donald Trump say Biden does not do is in the bill. And the President has agreed to it. And is ready to sign it. The ball is now in Speaker Johnson’s court. If he follows Trump’s demand and torpedoes the bill that gives Republicans every thing they asked for. They will no longer be able to say Biden is at fault for what happens at the border.
Joe Biden has masterfully allowed the Republicans to paint themselves into a corner. We will see in the next 24 hours if Johnson follows Trump’s demand. Or allow’s this comprehensive border security bill to go to a vote. Once again. Biden has gotten out of a difficult political situation by agreeing to a deal that will be beneficial to both democrats and republicans. And to the American people as a whole. Trump and Johnson are cornered with a no win situation if they refuse to allow this bill to become law.
