He's not getting likes because his post is disingenuous. If you read Spider-Man over the last 4 years, no one actually dislikes Peter Parker more than Nick Lowe. That's the only thing that explains why they make the character shit on & miserable with his own friends hating him.
* the editor of Spider-Man post only get 57 likes in about an hour.
This guy should get more attention then me when make I just a flippant comment. I’m not going to defend Nick Lowe issues but it’s just sad that your the editor of Spider-Man and can’t get the heat up
@webstunweb Nah, they know the fans hate Paul & Ewing still had MJ glaze him for a page as she compares an accomplice to genocide to Peter Parker (man who has helped save Earth). They don't care. They just wanted Ewing to hit the reset button on MJ/Peter as if the last 4 years never happened.
It's an understatement that rather than cementing the Bat/Cat relationship the Tom King "year of marriage" that never happened followed by Joker War, Valmont crap, and then Gotham War (one of the worst events in modern Batman) have actually HURT Bruce/Selina rather than helped.
If they didn't want to bother they wouldn't spend an issue of MJ justifying herself for that period or her glazing Paul. They could have just had her say "I wasn't myself. I should have waited for you. I made the wrong choices." Boom. 3 Sentences. But that wasn't what was done.
Either they're that incompetent and unprofessional or they just don't want to bother with Dead Language and Wells's run as whole, because it's more trouble than it's worth.
Who knows? Could be a combination of both ...
@JohnnyRedguy@NotFlerken@Exalted_Speed That was THEIR words "romantic obstacle"-so they created the concept and then built Paul around it. But yeah, Paul was just THERE. He wasn't great & we were never given real justifications why MJ was "in love with him", why she stayed with him post-fake-kids, this was all on her.
@TomABacon Look, Ewing (who claimed he doesn't love Paul & made Dylan & Venom mock Paul) had MJ glaze Paul for a whole page/compare him to Peter TO Peter's face in an issue that was supposed to be about Peter/MJ. Marvel knows fans DESPISED Paul. Ewing did it anyway as a clear FU to readers.
I'm sorry but I'm not going to let them off the hook here. The editor admits Paul knew. The comics says MJ never knew. So Paul never told her. It is CANON. The only way to undo is for MJ to either admit the time dilation is just an excuse she uses or that Paul was a bad guy.
Oh my apologies, they didn’t intend to write Paul Rabin as someone who could be considered rapist…
BECAUSE THEY FORGOT ABOUT THOSE MAJOR DETAILS IN THE FIRST PLACE.
@TomABacon Yeah, I'm still positive they are going with Flash/MJ. They've laid down too many panels on it, had MJ deny it (but the Editor then say "That's how she feels NOW....."). They know no one wants MJ with Flash. MJ really shouldn't be with ANYONE post-Paul. They'll do it anyway.
@Hope_Auq@ProfligateOne It's purple. Clearly Steph bought it for her. I'm doubtful if Cass shops for any clothes (unless someone is with her). Back in the OG Cass series (v.1) Alfred pretty much supplied her clothes, and then in Bludhaven Brenda helped her.
@TomABacon Well if they go with the Flash/MJ thing (which they are STILL hinting at despite the interviewer straight up reminding them of poor fan response) it'll be harder to sweep under the rug because by then it will be a pattern of putting MJ with someone else SOLEY so she's not with PP
@Exalted_Speed Everyone at Marvel knows the fans despise hate Paul & there was glee when he was killed off. Was this by the Spidey Editorial office? - because it's clear that Lowe & Co. are very protective of Paul. Even in death, MJ is not allowed to say he was a shitty guy, but must be glazed.
@TomABacon Oh sure. Me too. IF Paul is never mentioned again. But the point of MJ giving up on Peter (after pre-OMD MJ said she never would: see below) that WILL remain a sticking point fans will remember when they get back together at some point (and they WILL, even if just temporarily).
@MrblueNights1@Exalted_Speed I mean I can see some future comic where somebody bring up to MJ "hey remember when you dumped Peter for some random guy with a manbun for a hot minute?" [since comics-time will be compressed so no one ages). And MJ makes a weird face but doesn't respond.
@Exalted_Speed The question is: will Marvel itself join in the Paul jokes? We saw what DC think with Gail Simone making a joke of Paul as a creep in the PG/Punisher crossover. But Lowe, even Ewing, seems hesitant to so much as have Paul criticized. We just had MJ glazing him post-death. Why?
The funniest thing when it comes to this whole comic book accuracy debate is it's usually about characters with shitty comics. If you accurately adapted most Spider-Man comics from the last ten years you be mad that they adapted the most dog shit version of the character lmaoo.
A part of me will always believe the Nu52 only exists because some people (aka Didio) had a hard on for: Young Batman (but 4 male Robins still existing somehow), No Clois marriage, Wonder Woman/Superman as an official couple, Babsgirl & characters he didn't like (Cass/Steph) gone
In addition to Fialkov, who experienced physical pain and mental distress, many others quit at the time due to a very toxic work environment and an overcontrolling & chaotic editorial, not to mention authors being announced and replaced before having a single issue out.
@TomABacon No I do get it. That's why Peter waved away all apologies saying she NEVER needed to apologize & ending saying they were "best friends" again though MJ has treated him like crap for 4 years & hasn't acted as his BFF since Spencer. But the fans won't forget her giving up on him.
@TomABacon But they are going to have to address whenever they do get Peter/MJ back together (& they will just to boost sales eventually) that at the very least she lost faith in Peter & gave up on him. That's the sticking point even with Ewing & his "after 2 years I knew you were dead" BS.
Here is it-the WORST moment in modern Mary Jane Watson history, courtesy of Zeb Wells.MJ compares Genocide Paul's guilt/desire to be "a good man" (never shown mind you) to Peter's guilt over Uncle Ben. She knows this hurts him. She's defending GENOCIDE here. No apologies for this.
