When democracy is healthy, people are healthy. Thank you @HealthGov for establishing Voting as a core objective in our national public health goals! #HealthyPeople2030 https://t.co/B72OTQxjT4
We need effective voter registration systems for the folks most affected by health inequity. Excited to see how Secure AVR could improve health outcomes in the Medicaid population.
Even with highly successful automatic voter registration (AVR) systems at DMVs, we know that hundreds of thousands of eligible voters can be left off the rolls.
Now we know the ideal second agency for AVR -- one that can ensure that essentially no voter is left behind.
Our Policy & Advocacy Committee has been hard at work this legislative session supporting our member-led policy priorities at the Capitol ๐๐ Join us at our next committee meeting on Wednesday, April 5th over the lunch hour! #Policy#Advocacy#VotingRights#ThisIsPublicHealth
Whether through https://t.co/NKoJUyZOio, automatic voter registration through Medicaid, or programs like @Vot_ER_org and @civichealth_all, registration in health settings makes sense to advance population health AND reach underrepresented Americans to vote. (4/4)
The health system touches every American at every stage of their lives. Why not ensure voter registration opportunities in every interaction with the health system? Start with https://t.co/Zwu5D8eoap (1/4) https://t.co/YdFvzqcyN0
As @ASlavitt@donberwick and Cindy Mann point out in their op-ed, voter participation is an important determinant of health. Health systems should do everything possible to ensure the people they touch are registered and voting. (3/4)
๐ข๐ขVoting matters! This legislative cycle, MPHA is proud to advocate for voting rights and ensuring we maintain a healthy democracy. Join us and our coalition partner @wechooseusmn on Thursday, March 16th to Lobby for Democracy at the Capitol! https://t.co/TABVi6h7G4
Brilliant essay by @povertyscholar on why building power is necessary for achieving health justice. Health equity efforts without a power lens are ineffectual at best and reinforce inequity at worst. https://t.co/SbVGw68iWZ
โThe health sector can play a critical role in promoting inclusive democratic practices.โ @hdhp_initiativeโs @JeanneAyers, and colleagues authored this important commentary published in the Lancet today. Read the article here: https://t.co/C5clM27Dw1
We're glad to join nearly 100 organizations in writing to @POTUS and his administration emphasizing the urgency for departments and agencies to fully implement the Executive Order Promoting Access to Voting before the end of this term. #Selma58 https://t.co/Mcrh2bF5hp
Federal agencies - particularly @HHSGov - can integrate voter registration services into their programs to ensure that everyone is able to participate in democracy and be healthy. Read the #BidenProgressReport#Selma58 https://t.co/hU4S784d3J
It's simple: higher voter participation leads to better health outcomes. If you want to improve health, you must address the root factors that create healthy conditions - and voting is at the core of these @HHSGov
Earlier this week health professionals in MN provided valuable testimony to the House Human Services Finance Committee in support of HF3 which would create direct DHS to include AVR in the state Medicaid program! A #healthydemocracy supports healthier communities.
