What if half of today’s onion and chili post-harvest losses could be eliminated?
NAEB is turning that vision into action through Smart Food Value Chain Management Project by constructing One National and Four Local Post-Harvest Centers dedicated to onions and chili.
Strategically located in @CityofKigali , @RubavuDistrict , @rulindodistrict , @BugeseraDistr , and @NyagatareDistr ; these facilities will be curing 120 tons of onions and drying 79 tons of chili within 48 hours.
Expected loss reduction:
🧅 Onions: 15.4% ➝ 7.7%
🌶 Chili: 17.2% ➝ 8.7%
This milestone underscores NAEB’s commitment to strengthening Rwanda’s agri-export sector through enhanced efficiency, quality, greater global competitiveness and boosted farmers’ income.
