À l'issue du scrutin du 25 mai, Janas LAMAH a été réélu Commissaire Régional pour un mandat de 3 ans. Une reconduction qui traduit la confiance renouvelée des scouts de Conakry.

Today, @AfricaCDC, in collaboration with ASLM and partners, convened a virtual regional Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting on Biosafety and Biosecurity, bringing together experts and country representatives from across East Africa—including Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya, and South Sudan.

The session provided a platform for countries to share progress, challenges, and priorities in strengthening biosafety and biosecurity systems, from policy development and laboratory strengthening to workforce capacity building.

Discussions emphasized the importance of regional coordination and knowledge exchange to manage high-consequence biological risks better and respond to emerging public health threats.

• Progress in developing national guidelines, training experts, and strengthening laboratory systems
• Gaps remain in legal and regulatory frameworks to support full implementation
• Sustainable domestic financing is essential to reduce reliance on donor funding

The African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) is seeking experts to join the QuaLiPath Continental Technical Advisory Committee (CTAC) to support the implementation of the Quality Pathway to Accreditation for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (QuaLiPath), aligned with ISO/IEC 17025.

This volunteer role will provide technical and strategic guidance, oversee auditor training and certification, and help strengthen laboratory quality systems across Africa.
