True activism requires public campaigning for change. Restricting research to paying subscribers like J Capital' Equity Dispatch is the exact opposite.
Activist short-sellers exist to expose fraud and overvaluation to the entire market. A thesis behind a paywall completely defeats that purpose. It creates a toxic information asymmetry where everyday investors are left in the dark. Plus, without public timestamps, tracking performance is impossible.
Keeping a trade private is fine, but selling hidden data looks less like activism and more like a rigged game.

🚨 Calling all activist short sellers & research platforms.

I think we're overlooking a serious AI confidentiality risk.

Like many others, we already use LLMs to process public short reports, for example, extracting tickers, exchanges, sectors and other structured data. It's fast, efficient, and incredibly useful.

But as we prepare to let vetted users upload unpublished research to our platform, we realized something obvious in hindsight: before the market sees a report, the AI has to see it first.

For activist short sellers, that pre-publication information can be worth millions. Assuming it can never be exposed, retained or otherwise misused seems dangerously optimistic.

We learned this the hard way. While using Claude to optimize code, an API key was accidentally included in a prompt. It was subsequently abused, resulting in repeated unauthorized transactions until we identified the root cause. Anthropic ultimately acknowledged what had happened. Though such can happen with any provider.

That experience fundamentally changed how we think about handling sensitive information with third-party LLMs. We are now redesigning parts of our workflow to protect our users' intellectual property—even though it comes with a significant efficiency penalty.

Many activist short sellers openly discuss using AI in their research process. How are you protecting unpublished reports before they become public? I'd be genuinely interested to hear how others are approaching this.

@AhmadMansour__ Es gibt einfach viel Angst gepaart mit ungenügenden Deutschkenntnissen, Wissen über deutsche Kultur und Ämter, und daraus resultiert oft recht schnell ein Ohnmachtsgefühl gegenüber der Behörden. Es sind viele Missverständnisse, die zu gegenseitigem Misstrauen führt! Integration?

@altmetaller1 @thinkBTO Schuldzuweisungen helfen doch genauso wenig wie Versäumnisse aufzählen. Jedoch sollten historische Versäumnisse durchaus für den ein oder anderen ein juristisches Haftungsproblem nachsichziehen. Immerhin wurde hier bewusst nicht der Schaden vom Volk und Land abgewendet
