The New York Times continues to serve up neoliberal slop on a platter. The only reason they’re going after Platner like this is because he’s against the US-Israeli war machine.
When most of Congress is voting to send more bombs to a fascist genocidal baby-killing death cult called Israel, I don’t really care whether Platner is difficult in relationships.
It just seems the more "damaging stories" the more likely he is to win the Seat. Nothing so far even seems of note outside of Twitterverse story lines.
NEW - Democrats are preparing for Graham Platner to stick around until November, even as they also discuss — much more quietly — the likelihood of still more damaging stories about their Maine Senate candidate’s past.

How did America go from Obama to Trump?
Maine Senate candidate @grahamformaine tells @davidsirota it wasn’t some great mystery: Democrats bailed out banks, abandoned working people, and let corporate power keep running the party.

Every GOP ad in Georgia I get is like I’m going to get into the governors mansion and stop the woke.
What woke, Georgias state government has been run by the Republican Party since 2003?
I write in the @theipaper that the geopolitical repercussions of the Iran war are likely to be more far-reaching than those of the invasion of Iraq.
In Iraq, the US at least won the war militarily in three weeks, only to lose the peace later. In Iran, the US has lost not just the peace but the war itself.
This raises significant question marks as to whether US global primacy is feasible anymore. If a country like Iran can not only deny the US victory but impose on it a strategic defeat through the use of technology and geography, it is not only the reliability of America's security umbrella that comes under question, but also its efficiency.
These repercussions will not be limited to the Middle East alone, but will likely be felt globally.
What emerges instead is arguably a different kind of global order: one not defined by dominance but by mutual denial. In this world, great powers cannot simply impose their will, and smaller states can resist them at tolerable costs. The result is not chaos, but constraint.
The danger for the US is not irrelevance. It’s that it continues to pursue a strategy designed for a world that no longer exists. The same is true for countries, like the UK, that have largely chosen to rely on American military dominance. American hegemony promised control, but the Iran war revealed the limitations of American power.
In the gap between promise and reality lies the likely end of an era. The winners will ultimately be those who adjust.

BREAKING: Secretary of State Marco Rubio hits back at claims of a U.S. oil blockade on Cuba:
"Here's what's happening with Cuba, okay? Cuba used to get free oil from Venezuela. They would take like 60% of that oil and resell it for cash. It wouldn't even go to benefit the people. So the only blockade that's happened is ... the Venezuelans have decided we're not giving you free oil anymore."
"The reason that I can't fix it is not just because they're communist. That's bad enough, but they're incompetent communists."
The more you see from Graham Platner, the more you have to be impressed with his messaging ability. I'll also say, that a progressive message like his could win in Georgia. Ossoff is different and solid, but Platner is to his left and could be just as effective in this State.
From 2007-2011, during the financial crisis and the writing of Dodd-Frank, Banking Chairman Barney Frank didn't issue a *single subpoena.* He’s not a serious person and his silly book won’t be serious either.
⚡️Despite Trump’s claims that Iran is beginning to capitulate, Tehran believes it has the three Ms on its side: munitions, markets, and the midterms.

To figure out why Cole Allen did what he did, I obtained a copy of his resume and talked to his former friends. The portrait that emerges is unlike what the White House is saying:

Dems have been playing this same simple game for years with their gullible followers. They pretend to want something their "base" wants, but always manage to fall a few votes short. Gosh darn! Vote Dem next time and we'll get it for you! I wrote in 2010:

Former Vice President Kamala Harris said Friday she “might” run for president in 2028, adding at the 2026 National Action Network Convention that she is “thinking about it.” https://t.co/aFpk7aZ1ap
🇪🇸 BREAKING: Spanish PM Pedro calls for the IMMEDIATE ARREST of Netanyahu
He said: "Netanyahu launched the worst possible unjustified attack against Lebanon. His contempt for life and international law is intolerable. He is a criminal that must be arrested immediately.”
He also adds that the EU will suspend its Association Agreement with Israel very soon.
This is what true leadership looks like.
📌 Iran may withdraw from the ceasefire if Israeli attacks on Lebanon continue, a source told Tasnim News Agency. The source said the U.S.-backed deal included halting attacks “on all fronts,” including Lebanon, and accused Israel of violating it. Iran’s armed forces are now identifying targets for a possible response, warning that if Washington cannot restrain Israel, Tehran “will act with force.”
Iran's demands are reasonable and should be implemented. In fact, given the barbarity of the illegal aggression—the assassination of their head of state and civilian leaders, massacre of civilians, destruction of hospitals and schools—the demands are if anything restrained.
Have to wonder how things might be different if Obama had bothered prosecuting Bush admin war criminals instead of opting to “look forward as opposed to looking backward”
This statement changes nothing.
The President has threatened a genocide against the Iranian people, and is continuing to leverage that threat.
He has launched a massive war of enormous risk and of catastrophic consequence without reason, rationale, nor Congressional authorization - which is as clear a violation of the Constitution as any. Each day this goes on, the risk and criminality of these actions escalate for our nation and the world.
Moreover, this administration’s self enrichment, insider trading, and pure corruption off this chaos - from crypto currencies to predictive trading markets to bribe “settlements” - has placed the Trump administration’s pursuit of personal wealth squarely against the wellbeing of our nation and its people.
All of these incidents, and plenty more, have clearly driven our country past the threshold for impeachment or invocation of the 25th amendment.
We cannot risk the world nor the wellbeing of our nation any longer. None of these considerations should be partisan, but shared in good faith by Americans of all backgrounds who care for the safety and stability of the United States.
Whether by his Cabinet or Congress, the President must be removed from office. We are playing with the brink.
Perhaps they are going to announce they are opening the strait, but it seems so far fetched and unlikely from all reporting of their position, and their stated position, up to this point.
