A bipartisan Dear Colleague Letter with 24 signatures has been sent requesting funding for weather prediction innovation in any disaster supplemental or upcoming appropriations bills for science and technology, specifically highlighting JCSDA and JEDI:

Last month the JCSDA held a code sprint to begin standardizing variable names across JEDI. This ensures that JEDI remains model agnostic, eliminates unnecessary code duplication, and ensures consistency across all JEDI model interfaces.

With the DRAS funding JCSDA was able to add an incredible amount of workflow and infrastructure support, develop and combine the components of JEDI SkyLab, optimize software, develop marine data assimilation and improve CRTM:

JEDI SkyLab can now experiment with newly published data, including near-real-time data assimilation with UFS backgrounds. This enables fast evaluation of new instruments and commercial data in a real-world context before integration into operational systems.
