I am participating in Cycle for Survival this weekend to help bring new cures and hope to people with rare cancers. 100% of every dollar you give will advance critical rare cancer research at MSK. Gifts of any size make an impact – donate here: https://t.co/Cg0Wv9V0eC
Absolutely thrilled to have just matched into the inaugural class of Hematology Track Fellows at MSKCC! Could not be more excited to start the next phase of my training at such a phenomenal institution.
😯 François Jacob (co-discoverer of gene regulation) asked by Lucy Shapiro (Stanford):
"It's always been hypothesis-driven research [..] but a new way is looking at vast amounts of data and not asking a question, just seeing if it give you a pattern."
Jacob: "It’s very boring.."
@marcotrizzino For the record, it brings me no joy to critique work in a top-line journal that ignores what is by now a large body of literature calling into question the analysis methods used. I do believe that the methods used in our field are important. #methodsmatter 1/
As #ASH2023 approaches, I wanted to share some @ASH_hematology abstracts from our MPN cohort @DanaFarber @BrighamHeme now comprising approx 1300 patients on whom we have comprehensive molecular genetic profiling, clinical data, labs and pathology. Three abstracts to follow #MPNsm
Major, fatal errors found in the data and methods of a 2020 paper in @Nature, including millions of reads mis-identified as bacteria. The "cancer microbiome" in this study was simply not there. @abrahamgihawi@elapertea@YuchenGe1@JenniferLu717 https://t.co/z5Aja84kiR
Delighted to announce that I will start as a TT Assistant Professor @EmoryUniversity SOM in Dept of #Cell Bio & Human #Genetics in Jan 2024. Das lab will take a high-resolution dive into #RNA regulation in #neuronal health and diseases! Will be hiring soon, so please stay tuned.
Delighted to have our paper, led by @jmartinrufino, on conducting massively parallel base editing screens in primary human hematopoietic cells out in @CellCellPress today. Can help improve therapeutic approaches for #leukemia and #sicklecell disease:

Excited to share our preprint by @LABlake93 and @yliu_UofU in collaboration with @InoueLabJHMI. We established a rapid inducible RNA decay technique and observed rapid recruitment and decay of mRNAs in p-bodies: https://t.co/EgwQ6hH7RC.
Excited to share our latest pre-print! Spearheaded by @RaynaBirnbaum we show that a microtubule severing enzyme (Fidgetin like 2) that works at the cells leading edge, has its RNAs localized then locally regulated by Igf2bp1/IMP1, tweetorial to come shortly!
The results of different methods applied to the same scRNA-seq data differ substantially.
This is true even for fold changes, as shown below for Seurat and Scanpy.
The differences between selected transcript "markers" are even larger: https://t.co/pH4Rh3wQZv via @davisjmcc
