I've made an observation. Space Marine 2 was disastrous for the Warhammer community.

For years Warhammer 40k lore discussion was dominated by Redditors, Tumblr, lefty Twitter, and "community approved" lore Youtubers. People ideologically inclined to view Warhammer 40k lore from a specific biased lens. In other words, what we know as the 'Warhammer community.'

"The Imperium are the bad guys."

"Humanity causes all it's own problems and everyone else's."

"Xenos are innocent."

"Chaos is just misunderstood."

All objectively wrong and against the lore of the setting, but the only viewpoints allowed by consensus of the community.

Then Space Marine 2 comes along. It doesn't pander to these sensibilities. Chaos is just outright, objective, ontological evil. Xenos are horrific, all consuming beasts not capable of rational thought. The Imperium is trying to survive against impossible odds and must go to dark places to do it.

Suddenly, all those people introduced to Warhammer 40k through the game start getting interested and because the majority of them lack ideological reasoning for said interest, you can't convince them of these pre-approved talking points. They don't have the motivated reasoning to see the Imperium as anything but trying to survive a cruel universe. Because of this, you can't convince them to betray their own common sense. You can't convince them the Imperium and humanity are the problem.

Now, keeping the idea of Warhammer 40k being satire and the Imperium being the problem within the setting's lore alive is impossible. The ideological bubble was burst by exposure outside of the controlled discussion of the community.

I am radically pro law and order, I worked as a crime reporter and interviewed the families of officers killed in the line by stupid regulations and restrictions

I think we should reintroduce corporal punishment, widely expand the death penalty, expedite executions etc

I am not some bleeding heart civil libertarian, most of them see me as an authoritarian

But it is BECAUSE of my direct experience with law enforcement that I know Flock does not solve the core issues they face

I have had this conversations with officers a thousand times, they all know who commits crime and where but the they are restricted from arresting, charging, and punishing criminals because of the demographic realties this reveals

Flock is not for the criminals that police are already not allowed to arrest due to civil rights activists

Flock is for you
