@bgolus @midiphony I've never seen this happen before. What Unity version are you using? What does it look like in the packages-lock.json file if it doesn't say embedded? Is it like other packages from the package server? Does the same thing happen with other packages?

@DavidBHayter Another vote for Edinburgh as well. It's such a beautiful city! Not read all replies but going to suggest Dundee as well, 2 hour train journey north of Edinburgh. Lovely small(-ish) town in Scotland. I lived there for 4 years and always thought it was great.

@bgolus I still have the script I used for that test. I might check it again but focus on profiling the property updates this time.

@bgolus In my case, the majority of property updates were not done every frame. So, no noticeable perf hits were seen. But admittedly, I didn't profile the property update code in detail. The closest I profiled was comparing SRP Batcher to GPU instancing https://t.co/Ct7Wna0LAV.

@bgolus My workaround solution for setting per object material properties was to create a component on each model prefab that would create an instance of all the Renderer materials. It was the only way to ensure SRP Batcher would still work and still set per instance data.

@bgolus My guess is because MaterialPropertyBlocks are basically deprecated tech, with the replacement being ECS and DOTS. They probably don't see the point in trying to make it work. Purely speculating here, though.
