Development is not episodic.
It's incremental.
So why do some organizations only use episodic, event-based training?
Solely relying on workshops and training events ignores what we've long known about human behavior and sustainable change.

The weekend is a great time to disconnect from the constant notifications, reminders, and attention grabbers. Studies have shown disconnecting for even a few hours a day helps with anxiety, contentment, saving money, and an overall more optimistic outlook on life.
Using texts, email, social media posts, and emojis offers convenience and helps a lot of socially uncomfortable people stay engaged. However, relying on those forms of communication does not prepare us for situations which require face-to-face communication. "TrashTalk"
At this point, many feel guilty or ashamed of not completing or working on their goals. We begin the toxic self-talk of failure and beat ourselves up so much that we have no strength left to be motivated. My encouragement: Give grace and start again. And again, and again.
We need to regularly have meaningful conversations about our cares and fears with someone we trust. Failing to decompress and adjust our inward weights sets you up for blowouts.

If the total weight of expectations is 100 pounds, how much weight is added by self and how much is put on by other people or external sources? Often our self-expectations greatly outweigh those of others. We must settle the balance of expectations before we can move on.
Fixing my foundation makes me think of the immense work it takes to improve our mental, emotional, and spiritual health. This is some of the most taxing work we can do, yet we don't look different when we are done. But the peace we feel knowing our firm foundation is worth it.
I heard this quote from Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, and I love the perspective. Conflict is inevitable. Just fighting will tear us down, but negotiating and coming back together creates strong relationships.
My beautiful bride is celebrating another year of loving, serving, mom-ing, grandmother-ing, sister-ing, friend-ing, and wife-ing. I’m sure that last “ing” is the most challenging. I’m so happy to share this adventure with you, my sweet Pamela. Happy Birthday!!!
Every week we get requests from schools for more students that need our help! We are desperately in need of donations from businesses so we can fill the ever-growing needs of these homeless youth. Support them today https://t.co/pFlAyYw3oK
Isaiah 43:19 reminds us that God is constantly at work in the world, doing new things and making new opportunities. It encourages us to trust that He can bring life and hope to even the most challenging and barren circumstances.
My social media has been full of 2022 highlight reels where everyone seems to have had a year of globetrotting and always behaved children. Constantly comparing ourselves to others can lead to feelings of inadequacy and negatively impact our own happiness and well-being.
Welcome 2023, and Happy New Year to you all. If you don't feel quite ready for a new year yet, that is okay. Take some time to sit with 2022. Grieve what was lost, celebrate the wins, and be thankful for the lessons learned. 2023 you will thank you.
“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: ‘Glory to God in the highest, peace, goodwill toward men!’ Luke 2:13-14
Merry Christmas!

I have heard of quite a few people recently who have bought into the lie that they are alone, which resulted in them taking their own lives. It is so easy to hide what is really going on in our lives. Let's combat the evil lie of isolation by being more empathetic people.
While there is so much good in the Christmas season, for many, it brings a lot of hardship. If you are having a hard time finding joy this year, know you are not alone. I encourage you to reach out to someone. Life is too hard to do it alone.
