An evacuation alert remains in place for Fort McMurray and Saprae Creek Estates. MWF-017 is currently 16 km southwest of Fort McMurray. Although there is no immediate risk to these communities, the alert ensures residents are prepared to evacuate if conditions change.
Night-vision helicopters will continue to action the fire throughout the night.
Alberta Wildfire continues to manage wildfire operations with aerial resources, including helicopters and air tankers. Winds are favourable keeping smoke out of the community, and cooler temperatures have slowed fire behavior. Further temperature drops overnight are expected to slow the fire’s spread.
Currently, there are no impacts on Highway 63, but we are monitoring visibility closely due to smoke. For highway updates, check Alberta 511.
The next update will be shared at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow (May 11). Alberta Wildfire is the lead authority on the wildfire, and they will provide updates as the situation changes. I’m now at 17 hours on hold with @WestJet in the last 25 hours. I waited up til 5:30am last night trying to get through, and nothing. I’ve now been on since 11am this morning and again… nothing.

@WestJet I'm not the guy that tweets at companies because I can't wait on hold. I'm making an exception. Altogether, I've waited almost 10 hours on hold seeking assistance that I can't find online. Is there an extension to reach WestJet staff regarding bereavement?
@WestJet I’m nearing 24 hours since I first called the service centre at @WestJet. I’m 2.5 hours, I will have been on hold for 16 of those hours.
How is this acceptable? If this is happening to me, I can’t be the only one. When will my call be answered???
