Here's a few:
Prehab: made up; used to be called training.
Injury prevention: doesn't exist. Simply- If you can prevent injury then you can predict it. Not!
Functional training: still don't know what it is.
Muscle amnesia- C'mon!
Made up conclusion: "Our sport is unique."
The Pareto principle states that 80% of the consequences come from 20% of the causes
That is, 20% of your good habits can drive 80% of your success
Athletes:
You could have 10 great habits, but 80% of your success will still be driven by your sleep & what you eat (2/10 or 20%)
If you could go back and tell your adolescent self three things that would improve their training, what would they be? 🤔
My list in no particular order:
1. Sprint more ⚡️
2. 3 x 10 is not a great way to increase strength
3. Learn 🏋️♂️ movements early
Something I’ve been pondering today....
In the last 10 years I have been a part of 3 undefeated football seasons (Logan High School 2011, IMG Academy 2016, Alabama 2020). Aside from incredible coaching and very talented players, here are a few similarities that I noticed:
