@Dr_Michael_PJ Agree with lots of the recs for socks/clothes/toothbrush, but equally important is giving yourself grace! Those final hours when you’re brain is mush and you’re reading a text from a nurse 4-5 times over to make it make sense that’s ok!

@ncdepaz @sebsuarezmd Definitely a tough problem! In the ER in residency they had a shared excel file with canned dc instructions for all sorts of diagnoses, thought it’d be neat to do inpt ones. Would be low hanging fruit for QI! I end up putting both English and Spanish tho for nurses to read to pts

Something I try to teach my residents is to think about expected time of procedure and age of child. If sedated MRI is probably at 2pm why starve a 2yo? I wouldn’t wish taking care of starving toddler on my worst enemies!

Haven’t had to think or do anything clinical in weeks while on paternity leave, but I diagnosed my nephew with cellulitis so I guess that counts? 😬

Today marks 2 weeks since I’ve been off for “paternity leave”. Most (n=3) other doctor dads I know only got 2 weeks…with some initial trepidation I requested 4 weeks off. I am SO thankful (and so is the wife) for this time. This article was a helpful read https://t.co/ymOO1nOcPy
