My latest video on Northamptonshires fascinating history is now live. Re-written many times, I hope I got the balance right on what I found to be a particularly difficult subject to cover objectively. Witchcraft.

Rather pleased with my work today using the regimental history to map out the route taken by the 1st Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment on the retreat from Mons 1914. A very tough march. Of course they would recross the Marne in the other direction only a week later!

Walking through Northampton town centre yesterday I was surprised to see the amount of homeless people on the streets, several on Gold Street and a tented encampment behind All Saints Church. It’s always had its problems but I don’t recall it being this bad before!
Making a start on my next project, it is perhaps somewhat ambitious, but I'm going to create a series of videos following the Northamptonshire regiment and its battalions through the great war 1914 - 1918 from start to finish.
Stay tuned.
Okay, I have to admit that I got distracted and didn’t make it through the final of the hundred. It’s just not for me. But well done to the Super Giants who I believe have just won.
@Kathryn11Baird It’s certainly got a bit gloomy in Daventry, but again I find myself rather underwhelmed. I’m sure a total Eclipse is a different story though. Unfortunately there isn’t one in the UK until 2090!
I remember the last partial Eclipse in 1999, I was unloading a lorry that day, I recall thinking that it was a lot of fuss about nothing. I expect to be thoroughly disappointed again this evening. 🤣😂 #Eclipse
Not sure how I feel about this, it would be nice to see the club get some money, but I’ve spent so many years being opposed to this sort of thing I’m all a bit of a twitter. Still, I suppose that is modern football for you!
A consortium involving former Chelsea forward Alexandre Pato is close to reaching an agreement to buy a majority stake in Northampton Town, Sky Sports News understands
@RealCounties Many people are unaware of Northamptons historical importance, the English Parliament was held here on at least 30 occasions in the 12th, 13th and 14th centuries, the wider county has also hosted some important battles, Northampton (1460), Naseby (1645).
