BREAKING: President Biden has announced that on Tuesday he will sign a proclamation to establish a national monument honoring Emmett Till and his mother Mamie Till-Mobley.
Details:
- The National Monument will span across 3 locations in Illinois and Mississippi, and according to The Independent will "protect places that are central to the story of Till's life and death at age 14, the acquittal of his white killers and his mother's activism, which helped spark the civil rights movement."
- Emmett Till was lynched as a teen in Mississippi in 1955 after being accused of whistling at a white woman.
- Tuesday is the anniversary of Till's birth in 1941.
This is an action that all Americans should be able to get behind.
Thank you Joe Biden.
@panerabread I'm so tired of your donation commercial, patting yourself on the back for giving away "$80 million" worth of day old bread. Of course it isn't bad but no one is *buying* day old bread that you would have thrown in the trash but now use as a tax write off instead.

No. A local grand jury in NYC simply saw enough evidence to indict a private citizen. That private citizen will get his day in court. That’s how our legal system works. That’s all.
This is what a rigged economy looks like. On the same day a bill was signed into law to give a $76 billion blank check to micro-chip companies, Intel announced it will be cutting back on plans to increase jobs by $4 billion while increasing dividends for its wealthy shareholders.
For 87 years, through good times and bad, Social Security has paid every benefit owed to every eligible American on time & without delay. That's a h-u-g-e record of accomplishment. On this, the 87th anniversary of Social Security, our job is to expand Social Security, not cut it.
