Chief Edwards, Chief of Manhattan North, going over the barricade in pursuit of Emir Balat, suspected Manhattan ISIS bomber. A two-star still chasing perps. That’s a cop.
@chris_kratovil@KirkPittard She did not close the court at 5 pm. The clerk's office closed at 5 pm, but the CCA accepted filings after the clerk's office closed. This was known at the time. Here's a fair summary of the matter. https://t.co/HA6uykcTtY
@txvalues Y’all linked to a brief that rebuts your arguments. What y’all meant to link to was this, https://t.co/nij0z0IhBx, which is a concurring opinion explaining why some of the justices agreed with the court’s order.
@meagan4justice Differing interpretations prove that the constitution is a living document and disprove originalism? That doesn’t make a lick of sense, but that’s ok. Take care.
@meagan4justice The triumph of textualist approaches to constitutional interpretation over the past 30 years has improved the judiciary, yes—most judges are now embarrassed to identity themselves with a living constitution.
@meagan4justice And the greatest variance is between judges who think the text of the constitution determines constitutional rights, and judges who think that judges determine constitutional rights.
@meagan4justice Constitutional rights are determined by the people who ratify texts that propose the rights. Judges decide cases that sometimes involve those already-determined constitutional rights. Like the parties who appear before them, judges are bound by the texts that contain the rights.
