D-Day Minus 1 has begun in England. Ike is feeling the pressure like no other can. These are the most stressful hours of his life. A journalist notes he is "bowed down with worry...as though each of the four stars on either shoulder weighed a ton." He has a constant ringing in his right ear. Almost frantic with nervous exhaustion, he lights cigarette after cigarette, some 60 filterless a day. He has a palsy in his hand from signing so many orders. The fate of the free world rests with him and him alone. See more at https://t.co/91MLInspp6
I almost hesitate to promote this, because it wasn't really intended to be a piece. I just sort of sat down and it came out. Maybe someone else out there has the same type of day today, and it'll speak to them.

Our court is hearing arguments in San Antonio this morning. I think it would be appropriate for us to hold up a poster of Wemby every time we reject an argument.
Why can’t the major West Coast teams from California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Colorado and Utah form a 12-team conference to avoid stuff like this??? Wouldn’t that make sense?
Really surprised no one’s thought of that yet.
@ASFleischman And yet there’s nothing I’d rather be doing! If you’re the job the right way (doing law) for the right reasons (to serve the public), the hard stuff is worth it.
This week has been a great reminder that being a judge kind of sucks.
It takes a lot of work to do it right, voters can't tell if you're doing it right, and the rules on what you can say are so restrictive that you can't tell them that you're doing it right.
Come join us this week and help us finish out the Bar year with a bang!⚖️💯

Was not ready for Eric Church to deliver the best commencement speech I’ve ever heard.
Six guitar strings. Six pillars of a life.

I smiled, took the iPhone, snapped some photos, and congratulated the bride and groom. Sometimes I wonder if he ever clued in. My guess is no. Not sure why I remembered that today. 🤷🏻♂️ My main thought was thank goodness I don’t have to appear in front of him. 3/3
Not long ago I was sitting in a courthouse in another city in a suit, just people watching and clearing my head before our court was set to hear arguments in that courthouse. I noticed a judge I’d never seen before performing a wedding nearby. 1/3
When done with the ceremony he suggested the bride and groom get a photo with him. He looked over at me and said “he’ll do it. Lawyers have to do whatever I tell them.” Then he pointed at me and said “you, come here.” And he waved me over. 2/3.
