@KevinKileyCA As a healthcare professional and supporter in your district, I ask you oppose AB 890. Let's start a dialogue and I will be happy to elaborate!
@RBlockMD@MestisoMike I would venture to guess that a minority of PAs want independence/full practice Authority, however it is the only means we have to compete with nurse practitioners who have FPA and receive preference for hiring AND for our profession to survive at this point.
@MestisoMike@RBlockMD Physicians and PAs need to either be powerful and effective allies or PAs need to be better at riding the NPs legislative coattails. I prefer the former 100x over. Sitting in the middle like we are will get us destroyed by BOTH professions!
@DocStrange_1 In CA it's illegal, not sure about other states. If you got your doctorate, GREAT, CONGRATS! Just don't use it when patients are involved (Websites, staff/provider introductions, advertisements, etc.)

In our current healthcare system, those able to pivot the most, are least able, due to antiquated legislation. We need this to change!! #PAsNeedFullPracticeAuthority https://t.co/D6CaefxjZw
@_WannaBePA @QstrPA Ditto! don't wait, act now! Some kits have "tissue" to suture or use pigs feet. Or just felt scaps to get the feel of the wrist movement and instrument/ needle control. Just start messing around!
@TempletonPeckP1 As a profession, we are pretty great at that. Unfortunately, being the nice guy or being silent doesn't protect us from being phased out by both sides (NP and physician interests)
@RBlockMD @tomfolanmd Compromise, empathy, and viewing everyone as fellow humans. This is an issue that should require zero compromise or negotiation- awareness and resources are the basics everyone can and should support!
As requested by @tomfolanmd
May I please get 2 friends to copy and repost? I am trying to demonstrate that someone is always listening.

Just two. Any two. Copy- not retweet

@_WannaBePA My pleasure! I did this with conservative management of ortho in an FQHC. They loved it because it was quicker treatment for patients, increased revenue for clinic (they would have referred out for those non-op visits), and surgeons liked that they were properly worked up for sx
@_WannaBePA Primary care a consideration? think of the common complaints (ortho, derm, pulm,CV) and specialties that are difficult to refer to(derm, rheum, vascular) and do a rotation in this. This will either give you better depth or market yourself as the resident expert in the PC clinic.
@jones_ives @JaimeAPRN @RBlockMD I totally get that... maybe we need to forget the desire to lump and group and label, maybe we just need to stick to PA, NP, or PA/NP
@toomer_md@RBlockMD In the legal aspects, it is defined by the description. In reality, I feel the role is defined by many facets, one of which is perception.
@toomer_md@RBlockMD Yes, I agree that is inappropriate and I hope at least with PAs, an outlier. In CA, it's illegal... only certain professions can utilize the term doctor in relation to clinical care.
