Proud to stand alongside the Sergeants recognized at this year’s NYPD Medal Day ceremony.
One of the Department’s most meaningful traditions, Medal Day brings together members, families, and colleagues to recognize those whose actions and service have earned the Department’s highest honors.
SBA President Vincent Vallelong, Vice President Edmund Small, Recording Secretary William Morrissey, and Marshal Catherine Kunst were honored to be there in support of our members.
Congratulations to all of this year’s honorees.

Any union that allows this mayor to “manipulate” its members’ pension benefits to fill budget gaps created by incompetent elected officials is just wrong.
If you think going along with this scheme will somehow give you leverage for future benefits, you’re being completely mislead. More importantly, you cannot trust this mayor.
Pensions are not a slush fund. They are not a line item to be moved around when politicians run out of money. They are promises made to all your members.
Let me be clear: he is no friend of the NYPD or its membership.
Respectfully to all of you , I can’t believe all the unions are not lock step on this- very concerning.

"This is a hard no," said SBA President Vincent Vallelong. "This will send pensions down a slippery slope." Vallelong said pension trustees have a fiduciary responsibility to protect retirement funds & warned against treating them as budget relief.
