As a suicide prevention researcher, I am deeply terrified over this election outcome and its inevitable —and immediate— impact on the mental health of millions of struggling Americans, especially women, LGBTQIA+ and trans folks, and BIPOC. Folks are terrified— and rightfully so.
There is so much we can do to promote sleep— including delay school start times, engage in healthy sleep practices (put down the tech in the 30-60 mins before bed!), and elect leaders who promote science, mental health, and wellbeing
Thank you @acamh and @TheJCPP for the recognition of our work! And highlighting the importance of our research on the role of #sleep in #SuicidePrevention for teens.
@TheJCPP @PascoFearon Congratulations to @JHamiPhD et al. for winning @TheJCPP Best Paper Award for their paper ‘Sleep influences daily suicidal ideation through affective reactivity to interpersonal events among high-risk adolescents and young adults’. #ACAMHawards2024
