If you take any 2 statistics of Bobby Abreu’s career numbers, the players who fit that criteria are literally just him and a bunch of Hall of Famers. I will post a different combo each day to prove it. #AbreuforHOF
You hope this doesn’t mean Adolis is out for a while. They’re very thin in OF depth but you got a platoon player and the most important part is probably the international bonus money.
Trade news: The Philadelphia Phillies are acquiring center fielder Derek Hill and international bonus money from the Chicago White Sox for outfield prospect Dylan Campbell and infield prospect Jose Colmenares, sources tell ESPN.
One underrated thing about Sanchez’s unbelievable scoreless streak is that he threw 46 Innings over those 6 starts. He’s only the 3rd player to pitch at least 46 IP over a 6 game span in the last 9 seasons. (Eovaldi - 2023 and Alcantara - 2022)
What a run it was
If you do anything better than Bob Gibson did in 1968, it is truly something incredible.
Cristopher Sanchez just passed Bob Gibsons streak in 1968 for the 5th longest consecutive scoreless streak of all time.
In the last 5 losses in Painter’s starts they’ve scored a combined 4 runs. Asking a lot for a 22 year old rookie. I think hell be fine. I don’t know why anyone thinks he’s immediately going to come in and be Skenes.
The Phillies have lost 8 of Andrew Painters last 9 starts. He hasn’t been great this year but I think he’s pitched better than what shows. Half his starts have been good, the Phillies just don’t score for him. Over those 9 games, they scored more than 3 runs once, the only win
What can you even do with Adolis Garcia at this point? 3 for his last 58 with 30 Ks. He’s still giving you great defense every night and they have no one to replace him. Crawford is struggling as well and everyone of the LF platoon players have been just as bad this season
The Phillies defense stinks but they have to lead the league in soft hits allowed. Seems like every game there’s multiple bloop hits and infield singles.
MLB will do something stupid like give both players pitcher of the month. Sanchez did something only 1 other person has ever done in MLB history. He also pitched more innings over 1 less start, averaging 8 IP a start.
It’s funny seeing this graphic because if you added the proposed salary ceiling and floor, you still wouldn’t get what the Dodgers are spending this season.
No one wants a cap, just stop it with the insane deferrals.
It’s proven that you don’t need to spend to win, or that spending guarantees success. It’s only a problem because the Dodgers are abusing everything with their infinite budget and billions in deferred payments.
I hate the idea of a floor. Teams with young rosters don’t have to pay the big money to players yet so by default they have to spend big on FAs. That’s assuming they even go there. You can’t force a team to have to overpay for players just to make the floor.
BREAKING: As expected, MLB proposed a hard salary cap to union officials today as part of the next CBA, sources tell ESPN. The salary floor for teams beginning in 2027 would be set at $171.2 million which includes player benefits with the ceiling at $245.3 million.
You also won’t see the huge contracts for the better players since it will be too much with a cap, but the worse FAs will then make more because teams will have to reach the floor. Miami still won’t get more than 5,000 fans a game, but now will be forced to pay $100 million more
The Phillies are 10-1 in their last 11 Road games and have won 7 straight. They allowed just 19 runs in those 11 games, 5 of them being shutouts, and 9 of the 19 runs coming in a 6 run comeback win in extra innings.
They’ll now have to face LA in Dodger stadium.
Wondering if the Phillies would consider moving Sanchez up a day in the rotation to pitch at home Tuesday rather than Wednesday. That would give him a 5 day rest instead of 6 and also allow him to pitch another home game on Sunday against CWS compared to on the road vs Toronto
The Phillies with their ML leading 8th shutout of the season. They have 7 this month, and all 8 have come over the last 28 games, the 28 games managed by Don Mattingly.
