“Guys get to college and it’s way harder than they think unless your Michael Jordan or Cooper Flagg. 99.9% it’s harder than they think. You either make excuses, quit, transfer, blame others or you get to work and that’s what life’s about,” Mick Cronin
"I've never been one that said I don't believe student-athletes shouldn't be paid. But the way it is now is ridiculous. It's utterly ridiculous"
Steve Alford was asked if there's anything he & his staff need to do to help navigate this new landscape of college basketball & here was his response. It's long but worth a listen 👇
I was in a room with 300 football coaches last night. 2 categories of coaches:
#1: skinny pants, thermal vest over a long sleeve, textured t‐shirt, immaculate color coordinated Jordans.
#2: stained 2017 "Iron Works" team t-shirt, sweat/athletic pants, staff issued game day shoes
When districts say things like…
—No-Zero Grading
—Unlimited Retakes &
—Late Work Accepted Without Penalty
What they are really saying is…
—We are okay with compromising academic rigor
—We are okay with making grading less reflective of actual performance &
—We are okay with diminishing students’ accountability for their learning
I'm beyond thankful to Julius Delbridge and his PT staff at the CHKD Sports Performance Academy for being an integral part of Kellam's Personal Training Internship Program. Words can't express how grateful we are for the time & effort they put in to making this program a success!
Things started going downhill when free play, backyard games, and playgrounds that were critical in developing fundamental movement and body awareness were replaced with pro youth sports with an emphasis on technical and tactical awareness. Sport based groups do little to arm the young athlete with the all-around physical education foundation needed to compete at a higher level when the athlete reaches adolescents and beyond.

Everyone has potential.
Everyone has a talent.
Not everyone has the discipline and drive to develop that talent and potential.
The world is full of talented underachievers.
It has nothing to do with your talent or your potential and is all about what you do with them.
