@misscalcul8 Maybe more time between the quiz and the retake? I usually leave about a week between work and corrections to allow things to sink in and for kids to have the time to ask their questions. Every kid is different, though, so this situation is not easy...

@Willmdunn Totally. Some of the ideas that kids are taught as young students prevent them from being open to more abstract concepts as they move towards algebra and beyond. I spend MUCH time on undoing these ideas. #dangerousindeed
