This so called “traffic reform” is nothing short of economic strangulation. For 4 days straight, street vendors have earned nothing, shopkeepers are staring at empty stores, and the entire business fraternity is bleeding losses as access is choked at multiple points. No rehabilitation, no stakeholder consultation, no relief. Just top down decisions crushing the very people who keep the local economy alive. Development cannot be built on destroyed livelihoods. Authorities must answer. Who gave you the right to push thousands to the brink without a plan?

In yesterday’s Assembly session, Our Party President and MLA Handwara @sajadlone raised a very serious issue about the tender system. He clearly pointed out how projects with a fixed estimated cost often receive bids that are extremely low or sometimes unnecessarily high.

When a project estimated at ₹100 is awarded at ₹60 or ₹70, it may look like saving money, but in reality it often results in poor quality work, delays, and unfinished projects. Later, the same work requires additional funds, which increases the burden on the government and the public.

His suggestion was practical and reasonable bids should be allowed only within a fixed range, such as ₹90 to ₹120 for a ₹100 estimate. This would prevent unrealistic bidding and ensure fairness, transparency, and better quality work.

This is not just a political statement; it is a call for accountability. If implemented properly, this reform can protect public money and improve the overall tender process. Now the focus should be on turning this strong statement into real action.

Enough is enough. The government and GMC administration are deliberately dismantling GMC Baramulla by shunting out competent, hardworking doctors without justification.

This isn’t mismanagement it’s a calculated assault on public healthcare in North Kashmir. When merit, experience, and dedication are punished, what message is being sent to doctors who actually want to serve?

Who in the government is authorising this rot?
Who in the GMC administration is executing it?

You don’t build institutions by hollowing them out.
You don’t improve healthcare by driving away your best doctors.

This reckless governance is killing GMC Baramulla and the government will be held accountable.

The NC Govt has turned Kashmir’s future into a laboratory of disasters.
From paper leaks to the murder of merit, every “reform” ends up sabotaging our youth.

Their manifesto was a booklet of lies clean recruitment, transparency, merit, accountability.
Then they begged for 6 months to “fix the system.”
Now it’s been a year… and all we see is chaos, leaked exams, shattered careers, and a Govt asleep at the wheel.

Just look at the Accounts Assistant posts: 600 vacancies and barely 240 left for OM candidates.
The rest chopped up like rations.
This is not “social justice,” it’s systematic destruction of merit and the NC Govt is doing it with full confidence because they think they are not be answerable to anyone.

NC Govt’s legacy so far:

When a Govt can’t protect merit or credibility, it loses the moral right to rule.
J&K deserves better than a regime that looks the other way while futures are destroyed.

It is deeply unjust and morally wrong for KPDCL and J&K authorities to propose a 20% surcharge on electricity during peak hours, when Kashmiris need power the most.

In Kashmir, electricity is not a luxury; it’s a basic necessity, a lifeline during the freezing winter months. Punishing people for using power in the morning and evening, when they need it for heat and survival, is cruel and insensitive.

This proposal comes at a time when ordinary Kashmiris are already struggling with economic pressure, rising costs, and a failing power infrastructure. Instead of tackling the real issues, such as long outages, high losses, lack of metering, and unreliable supply, KPDCL is shifting the burden to consumers. That is unacceptable.

The proposed 20% peak-hour power surcharge shows that J&K’s power policy is controlled by people who neither understand Kashmir nor care about its residents. They first promised 200 units free, then instead of delivering , they chose the easiest option: punishing the consumer.

This is what happens when departments operate on autopilot and leaders hide behind paperwork instead of taking action. Stop experimenting with our survival. Fix the system and don’t bill the victims.

It is a matter of immense pride to share that GMC Handwara has been granted accreditation for 10 additional DNB/Diploma seats, taking our total sanctioned capacity to 34 seats.

GMC Handwara has become the first medical college in J&K to secure accreditation in Emergency Medicine with 4 seats — a distinction previously held only by SKIMS, which has 2 seats in this specialty.*

This achievement marks a significant milestone in strengthening postgraduate medical training in the UT and further enhancing the academic profile of GMC Handwara.

Inshallah. In a couple of years this institution will evolve and there will hardly be a patient who would be referred to Srinagar. That is the ultimate objective.

Even as the wounds of the Nowgam tragedy remain fresh, another heartbreaking incident has shaken us to the core. The accident at Waterwani, Budgam, claiming innocent lives, has plunged our community into profound sorrow. My deepest condolences go out to the families who have suffered this unbearable loss. I pray for strength for the bereaved and a speedy recovery for those injured. May the departed souls find eternal peace.

Alarming allegations surface over the #JKPSC 10+2 Lecturer examination held on 9th November. The paper was unusually lengthy spread across 40 pages, making it extremely difficult for aspirants to complete within the allotted two hours.

What’s even more shocking is that a local coaching institute, Home Academy, conducted a mock test on 6th November, just three days before the exam, and several questions specifically Question Nos. 26 to 31 (Series C) were exactly the same, including the options, as those in the actual JKPSC paper.

If this isn’t investigated transparently, it will deeply shake the faith of thousands of aspirants who prepare with honesty and dedication. The government must come clean and hold those responsible accountable.

GMC Baramulla is falling apart broken lifts, no heating, unhygienic washrooms, and crumbling infrastructure. This isn’t negligence anymore, it’s betrayal. While officials celebrate expansion projects and photo ops, patients and attendants suffer in silence.

We demand accountability from the administration, the engineers, and those responsible for maintenance. Stop hiding behind excuses and start fixing what’s broken. GMC Baramulla deserves care, not complacency.

Let’s Save GMC Baramulla Before It’s Too Late

GMC Baramulla has always been a source of pride for our district. It stands as a symbol of hope, service, and respect. Thousands rely on it every day the sick, the poor, the helpless, and the ordinary people of north Kashmir.

But today, we need to be honest. Our GMC is in bad shape. Lifts are broken, heating does not work in freezing temperatures, washrooms lack basic cleanliness, and the infrastructure is in urgent need of repair.

This is not just a failure of the administration; it reflects our shared neglect. Yes, the government and authorities need to be held responsible. So much attention has gone toward new expansion projects, photo opportunities, and announcements. But what about the current infrastructure that is crumbling before our eyes? Why are the real issues patient care, hygiene, and safety being overlooked?

Yet, we also need to look at ourselves. We too have a role to play. Sometimes, we mistreat public property, damage walls, litter hallways, or misuse facilities. This is our institution, built for our people, and saving it will require our collective effort.

Let’s not wait for another viral post or tragic video to wake us up. Let’s come together raise our voices, demand accountability, and commit to protecting and respecting GMC Baramulla as if it were our own home.
