Reliving history. A trip down the history lane.
As a son in 1989, I made the customary graduation day walk on the stage and my father watched. And in 2026 my son Mohammed Emad Gani Lone made the customary graduation day walk on the stage and I watched. Last year my other son Mohammed Adnan Gani Lone made the same walk.
As we grow older, we reminisce and romanticise those younger days of youth. And as we raise our sons and daughters we realise the sacrifices that our fathers and mothers rendered while raising us. We become true sons and daughters, when we become parents.
Today as Emad walked on the stage, I felt it was me walking on the stage. And I was searching for my father, in the crowds. I could not find him. And I had to be content being a father.
And then it dawned on me. Fathers may die but fatherhood never dies. Fatherhood is a rare constant across generations. And that defines the circularness of life
Deeply shaken by the horrific murder of a 12 year old girl in Budgam. The allegations surrounding this crime make it even more painful & disturbing. No family should ever have to endure such unimaginable grief.
In this moment of immense sorrow, my heartfelt condolences & prayers are with the bereaved family. May they find strength & sabr to bear this irreparable loss.
The perpetrators of such brutality must face the strictest punishment under the law.
I along with my colleagues at the @JKPCOfficial were to go to the Martyrs graveyard today to offer Fateh for my father Abdul Gani Lone, who was martyred 22 years back on the 21st of May by terrorists.
But the police came early morning and informed me that I have been placed under house arrest.
We had a similar gathering at the Handwara office. This office has also been put out of bounds by the police.
The move to declare Darul Uloom Jamia Siraj-ul-Uloom, Shopian as an unlawful entity is deeply concerning.
This has now become a trend. And it is dangerous. Selective targeting has not worked in the past and will not work now.
I wonder why all the laws are meant for the most helpless.
A solemn commemoration ceremony was held at the Party Office in Handwara to honour the life and legacy of Noor ud Din Banday Sahab.
JKPC President @sajadlone fondly recalled cherished memories, describing Banday Sahab as far more than a party worker — a member of the family whose unwavering loyalty, warmth and dedication left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Chief Spokesperson @bashirdaradv , DDC Chairman @irfanpanditpuri, Lolab Constituency Incharge Dr. Mudasir, DDC Rajwar Mir Sulaiman, District President Hafizullah Mir, District Coordinator Ab Ahad Kashmiri and others also paid heartfelt tributes, reflecting on his humility, commitment and lifelong service.
His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy of sincerity and devotion will continue to inspire generations to come.
Sad news coming in. Noor Mohd Bandey sahib of Town Handwara aka Noor Mama passed away.
My mentor, my dearest Noor Mama was a long time associate of my late father. Perhaps the longest. Noor Mama must have been in his eighties. He joined my late father when he was a teenager. And never left my father, me or the party till date. He will be a reference point for loyalty and dedication.
For me he was family. And he was my most trusted companion in my political journey. He spent his entire life for @JKPCOfficial Me personally and @JKPCOfficial can never repay what he did for the party. It is a personal loss for me.
During my early days he would be by side, literally coaching me. Those were tough times. My father had been killed. I still remember. During political outings, he would first go in, check the house and then allow me to go in. He would literally shield me in public gatherings.
Barring last few years when he was not keeping well, Noor Mama
was a one man war machine who would manage the political tours, the residence.
He was full of life. Full of humour. It was a treat to sit with him and talk for hours. He would always be surrounded by people, listening to his conversations
إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
We are Deeply saddened by the demise of Noor ud Din Banday sahab of Handwara, he was a close associate of Shaheed Ab Gani Lone sb and a staunch, committed worker of People’s Conference.
His unwavering dedication and sincerity will always be remembered.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.
CM sahib allowed the introduction of private member bill. The government didn’t oppose it.
The bill pertains to land. More specifically about extending the leases on government land that have expired. The bill pertains to some of the costliest real estate in Kashmir, worth I would guess about 70000 to one lakh crores. Or maybe even much more.
And no prizes for guessing. It is aimed to help the super elite of Kashmir.
May I ask what is in it for the poorest of the poor. Lakhs of poor families who have built houses on 2 Marlas or 3 Marlas or at the most a kanal. They continue to persecuted on a daily basis. They are as helpless as they have been for decades. Do they don’t deserve a bill.
I am not opposed to the bill per se. But it the super elite only who have to benefit.
May I ask some questions.
I asked them in Assembly. Never got an answer.
What is the total land in Kanals that belongs to the government and has been leased out.
What is the lease amount that they have been paying till date.
Selective mourners stay silent when the US and Israel, their masters, kill over 100 Iranian elementary school girls. As if those lives never mattered. Yet they boast of caring about Iranian lives.
While always being a nationalist & firmly believing in supporting my country, the visit of the Prime Minister to Israel at this time cannot be justified in light of what has unfolded in Palestine, especially over the last two years.
The Holy Qur’an commands believers to stand firmly for justice (4:135), and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that the best struggle is to speak a word of truth before injustice. These teachings make it clear that remaining silent in the face of suffering is not an option. The protection of innocent lives and upholding justice is a moral responsibility.
Diplomatic neutrality in global politics may be a strategic choice, but conscience and ethical responsibility demand a clear and principled position. This is not merely about religion; it is about humanity. India has historically upheld a principled stand in support of Palestine based on justice and self-determination. That legacy should continue to guide foreign policy decisions, ensuring they remain aligned with humanitarian values and the moral conscience of the nation.
This is what NC and BJP together voted against in the Assembly.
I had moved amendments to the Honourable LG address. The concept is that these points be added to the honourable LG address.
The amendments were put to vote. And NC and BJP voted against it.
Thanks to PDP members. They supported it.
1, This is the same Deputy CM who threatened officers in Handwara, ordering them to abandon their duties and mark attendance before an MP from Rajasthan.
2, Today, he speaks about Pulwama bridges, but forgets that he was part of both PDP and BJP governments and was rewarded with an MLC seat during that period.
3, When the government collapsed, he conveniently joined the BJP and continued to enjoy power and privileges until 2023.
4, And now, look at the arrogance the tone, the language, the manner of speaking. Power without humility reveals character.

The profiling of mosques, Imams is shocker to say the least. Yet another example of punitive overstretch. India is a secular country. And collectively branding of a religion as suspect is dangerous.
There can be security issues. But no security threat is bigger than the idea of India. Pushing Muslims to the wall, making them suspect is a security risk in itself.
Incidentally in JK police both Hindus and Muslims work. Yet in the fight against terrorism, 95% of those rendered sacrifices and laid down their lives for their country, happened to be Muslims.
Will someone go to their graves and whisper into their ears, that the mosques they went to pray are being profiled.
Road widening on the Baramulla–Uri highway is being executed with complete disregard for ecological and geological realities. Unscientific mountain cutting without proper studies has already led to repeated landslides.
Development cannot and must not come at the cost of environmental damage and irreversible consequences. This reckless approach is putting lives, property, and the future of the region at serious risk.
The government must immediately step in, stop this unplanned excavation, and ensure scientific, environmentally responsible planning before disaster strikes.
