@JessPopescu@blackforager@KlutheScience No, palms grow up but don’t add girth. They have primary growth only. I think of it through the tree rings. Tree ferns are another example, they grow up but that’s it. Fascinating to think that pines (gymnosperm) and oaks (angiosperm) both evolved to be trees independently!
Feeling valued and validated as a professional educator with the @BIOINTERACTIVE Academy meeting. I am inspired by this community that is driven to “dare mighty things” everyday to help improve life science education for all students.
Refilling my professional learning bucket this week. Helping design and create lessons to support the most amazing and engaging molecular models. Refreshing to learn and collaborate with such passionate people who are fighting to transform science learning.
The MAPS Team is kicking off Summer by learning about biochemistry and the basics of protein structures using amazing @3DMolDesigns models! #WeAre832@MahtomediPride
At Mahtomedi High School, Science Teacher Jim Lane received a shoutout from alumna Kathryn Robinson. “I am now on my way to become a teacher, and I hold the ways in which he taught close to my heart. He didn’t give us the answer, rather he encouraged us to find the solutions."
Field Eco students are working hard planning lessons about trees and conservation for the 2nd grade students! They are identifying learning targets and success criteria for their engaging student centered lessons! #WeAre832
Field Ecology students presented their projects designed to communicate the intersections of history of a huge bur oak and the human and ecological communities. Authentic audience and some very creative approaches!! Thank you to all who attended!! #WeAre832
Field Ecology is deciphering tree rings, climate data, and human interactions with the land. They have been using software from @locallyabsent @UMNews to learn about the intersection of trees, climate, and human culture. #WeAre832
