Her own Department BLACKED IT OUT. Refused to say why. For 49 days.

Then a city clerk in Rochester Hills produced this in TWO BUSINESS DAYS. An official election meeting with other states' election chiefs. Sent to her Gmail.

Why does one address matter? Because state business done on a secret account is SECRET GOVERNMENT BUSINESS. Every email sent through it is a public record the public can't see and the state NEVER SEARCHED.

And that's the one we know about.

So today we asked a judge to rule: blacking it out with no explanation BROKE MICHIGAN'S PUBLIC RECORDS LAW. And to ORDER the Department to hand the blacked-out pages over to him so he can see for himself.

And she has 20 questions to answer. In her own name. By October 14. For example:

QUESTION 7: Is the blacked-out address the Gmail?

QUESTION 11: Has she used the Gmail to communicate with the Southern Poverty Law Center?

QUESTION 20: Has she DELETED state business from a private account since April?

Admit or deny. In writing. Filed with the court.

🚨 MICHIGAN UPDATE: The fight to put CITIZENS-ONLY VOTING on the November ballot is now squarely before the U.S. Supreme Court — and the State’s response is VERY telling.

Michigan has now filed its response in Americans for Citizen Voting–Michigan v. Michigan Board of State Canvassers, No. 26A275, after Justice Brett Kavanaugh ordered the State to respond to the emergency application.

And pay attention to HOW the State is fighting this.

Rather than simply resolving the underlying question of whether Michigan voters who signed sworn affidavits legitimately signed the petition, the State is leaning heavily on procedural arguments — including that ACVM went to the @USSupremeCourt only four days after filing in the Michigan Supreme Court and before that court ruled.

Translation: a major part of the State’s argument is essentially, you got here too soon. 🤯🤯

But here’s what makes this fight so important.

ACVM submitted 709,841 signatures — far more than the number required. According to the State’s own Supreme Court filing, Bureau staff initially found 692 valid signatures in the first 1,000-signature sample before challenges. After the challenge process and ACVM’s responses, that number ultimately fell to 612.

ACVM then submitted sworn affidavits from voters seeking to establish that signatures rejected during the review were, in fact, theirs.

And notably, the State’s Supreme Court response does not appear to rest on an argument that those voters fabricated their affidavits or never signed the petitions. The fight instead centers heavily on whether those affidavits can legally be used at this stage to rehabilitate signatures and whether the federal courts should intervene now.

That distinction matters.

We are talking about actual Michigan citizens trying to place a constitutional amendment before Michigan voters stating something remarkably simple:

Only U.S. citizens should vote in Michigan elections.

You don’t have to support the amendment to recognize the larger principle here. When hundreds of thousands of citizens use the constitutional petition process, government officials should be bending over backward to determine the legitimate will of those voters — not searching for procedural exits to keep the question away from the electorate.

And the clock is now ticking.

The State told the Supreme Court that Secretary of State @JocelynBenson must issue the call for Michigan’s November 3 election by September 4, triggering the ballot-production process. Military and overseas ballots must be ready by September 19.

That means Justice Kavanaugh — or potentially the full Supreme Court — could act very quickly.

At this point, the State Board of Canvassers’ determination to keep this proposal off the ballot is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. Why are they fighting it so hard? 🤔🤨 The question should be simple: Were these legitimate Michigan voters, and did they legitimately sign the petition?

If the answer is yes, Michigan voters deserve the opportunity to decide the amendment for themselves.

Enough procedural gymnastics!
