I can speak as one who had to work through this in our own church. But a woman leading in worship is ultimately a pastoral position. There is really no way around it: she is an authority. “Leading.”
I’m not SBC. But it’s not a healthy practice and should be corrected.
@MikeTango22202@BradyJBush@PhilNvestigates There are tons of women registered and participating as messengers (including my wife) each year. They speak from the mics, serve on committees, etc.
Wolfe is not a real Baptist, but as long as his church cooperates with the SBC and chooses to send him, he can speak.
@dieworkwear I like your content (and am not any sort of expert on style/fashion), but I do think you expecting a bit much here.
A great many men are never going to think of clothing as self-expression. Pointing them that way will not be well received.
@PoeticEdamame@kitten_beloved I've lived in NE Texas (rural), Middle TN (small town, not Nashville), and West TN (70K city), and I live in NE AR (30K town). If I saw or see a stray in any of those places, it was more often than not a pit or pit mix. People drive out of towns and cities to dump their dogs.
@ImAureus@mavroskeravnos@zoomertruther@nodeslashone The argument is over whether a native-English-speaking classicist knows more about Homeric Greek than a modern native speaker. The answer to this question is obviously yes.
Etymology is really the issue. Much modern English shares etymology with old, it’s grammar and context.
@mavroskeravnos@zoomertruther@nodeslashone A modern Greek is no more a native speaker of Homeric Greek than you are of Old English.
Three culturally dominant forms of Greek (Attic, Koine, Byzantine) have come and gone since the Ionic and Aeolic dialects that make up Epic Greek died out.
@SassySouthBlond@AlaTaiwanStair@ramit Squatters rights only necessitates an eviction. They only transition into a “taking” through Adverse Possession, which always involves things like the squatter paying taxes on the property, living there for a decade or more, and the squatting being locally “notorious.”
@AlaTaiwanStair@ramit “Educate yourself” then cites squatters rights, which only necessitates an eviction. Adverse possession can take property, but does not apply here.
Adverse possession has very specific requirements in all 50 states, none of which would be met if the guy also lives in the house.
@BugattiBoblo@asti_evoo1st@ramit My wife stays home and did so to some extent before we had kids. Is she not a real woman?
There’s more to the value of a person than economic output.
@AlaTaiwanStair@ramit In the US at least, this is not true.
She could force you to evict her (which could take a long time), but adverse possession would be impossible with him still living there.
If you mean by divorce, that would require a marriage first, which isn’t being discussed here.
@Anglophile0011@revenant_MMXX Most overweight Americans are so because they overeat generally. Hyper palatable processed foods are a component of this, but we overdo it on whole foods too (especially red meat).
American portions are massive, regardless of if you are at Applebee’s or a farm to table spot.
@Anglophile0011@revenant_MMXX The obesity rate in the US is high because US was a largely blue collar and agricultural society with most people living outside of cities just 100 years ago. It has been a century of unrivaled plenty and ease, but we still consume calories like it’s 1920. 1/
@anFleshman@AmusedToDeath1 12oz loaves of fresh (crunchy-chewy European style) sourdough bread are currently $1.76 at my local Walmart (Memphis).
The “Artisan” ones are $2.96.
A 32oz one from Costco is $6.80.
@DesireeAmerica4 Also, all you have to do is go to a Chick-fil-A drive-through to see that they are super conscious about worker safety. They all wear hi-vis vests and even have these little personal shade tents for the summer.
@DesireeAmerica4 People are missing a key observation. Notice, when you look at the bag itself, it seems to contain several cubes. Many Chick-fil-A locations have those compactor trash cans in their dining rooms. He's not lifting a large bag of food waste. He's lifting three.
@oshiimid@wormgutzzzz@jonathanbfine But to answer your question. . . Ancient works like this are cited differently depending on the work, but most have an arrangement like Book>Section>Line. For example, I cited Philo of Alexandria in a paper as Philo, Vit. Mos. 2.34–40.
