6-Ridgewood (25-7) After careful consideration, Ridgewood gets the nod as the top-ranked public team to end the season thanks to its rigid schedule throughout the playoffs. The Maroons defeated Mount Olive, the only NJSIAA to beat Delbarton, on the road in the North 1 Group 4 semifinals. Then, they won the section title over Passaic Tech on the road, who was the top-ranked public team in New Jersey at the time. Ridgewood then walked it off against the N2G4 in Ridge in the state semifinals to go to the state finals. Ridgewood bested then-No. 9 Kingsway, 7-6 in the Group 4 state championship to cap a gauntlet of a schedule. Alex D’Angelo, TJ Fisse, and Gavin McCrone each produced 30-plus hits, while Ryan Nitch led with 43. Brady Ross (5-0) had several heroic moments in relief throughout the postseason while Kotaro Kim and Hudson Feeney each powered game-winning home runs.
