No other province allows this. This CTV story with Jason and Emma Phillips aired Monday night in Alberta. #abpoli #cdnpoli https://t.co/0izxpCMob0
Jason Maclean, @JMACL3AN Chair of the Cdn Health Coalition wrote this letter which appeared in the Toronto Star in response to a piece by @althiaraj ‘s article regerribg to Alberta’s controversial Bill 11. @cdnpoli
« Our PM would be wise to listen to those in the know in his caucus
‘He yells’: Mark Carney’s focus has Liberal MPs bristling, June 3
Prime Minister Mark Carney is playing a dangerous political game by yelling and not listening to the doctors in his caucus.
The Star’s Althia Raj reports the PM berated Winnipeg MP Dr. Doug Eyolfson, a physician, for raising concerns about the lack of a federal response to Bill 11 (the Health Statutes Amendment Act), Alberta’s controversial two-tiered health care act which passed in December.
This controversial law lets doctors charge whatever they wish for medically necessary care to patients who can afford it, leaving everyone else to wait.
Vancouver Liberal MP Dr. Hedy Fry said Bill 11 violates the Canada Health Act. She then was dropped from the Commons Health Committee. A coincidence?
The physicians are right and the Canadian Health Coalition has a legal opinion supporting it.
So rather than try to appease Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, our prime minister should not lose the confidence of his loyal team, take the doctors’ advice and put a stop to Bill 11.
Jason MacLean, chair of the Canadian Health Coalition, Ottawa, Ont. »
Happy to have met with federal Health Minister Marjorie Michel @MarjoriePLC, flanked by the Chair of our coalition Jason MacLean @JMACL3AN of @NUPGE, and Vice Chair Siobhàn Vipond @CLCVPSiobhan of the @CanadianLabour Congress, with Haylee Keyes, Director of Development and Community Engagement and @StevenStaples to talk about protecting and advancing public universal health care. #cdnpoli
Join in the day of protest across AB tomorrow, Friday May 29. The Smith government of Alberta is pushing ahead with more for profit privatization of health care than anywhere else in Canada. Two-tier healthcare and chronic under-funding and under-staffing of the public system have to stop. #abpoli #cdnpoli https://t.co/G2bbNccOII
Advancing public healthcare is a must. It a huge part of what it is to be Canadian. We are on a mission to enhance our healthcare and all politicians are key to making it happen.

Goodness, I'm only a week back to this platform and it is such a load of contradictions. Well, I'm only here for the news I guess but I do have my popcorn out.
No more debate. The world’s highest court has spoken.
The right to strike is a fundamental right.
Canada’s unions helped secure this historic victory at the ICJ and we’ll keep fighting any attempt to weaken workers’ rights here at home.

Two people died in Winnipeg after selling their plasma to Grifols, the plasma multinational that runs Cash for plasma store fronts in 6 provinces. The Manitoba Health Coalition is calling for a federal inquiry and a ban on paid plasma, as other provinces have done. #cdnpoli #mbpoli

Thank you to the @CanadianLabour for its decades long commitment to universal public health care. All Canadians should get care based on need and not ability to pay. #cdnpoli
@MBHealthCoal ‘s Noah Schulz and blood safety activist Kat Lanteigne speak to the dangerous practices of Grifols cash for plasma store fronts at a news conference this morning. At least two people have died and one has been injured after selling their plasma. #cdnpoli#mbpoli@CanadasLifeline Plasma needs to be returned to the properly regulated public agency Cdn Blood Services.
